A Chinese doucai 'dragon' jar and cover, Qianlong seal mark, late 19th/early 20th century, the ovoid body painted with two scaly dragons chasing 'flaming pearls' amidst ruyi shaped clouds and scrolling flames, all between a lappeted border encircling the foot and a 'bajixiang' border above a row of ruyi heads at the shoulder, rising to a short neck, the flat topped cover painted with a flaming pearl and ruyi shaped clouds, the base inscribed with an underglaze-blue reign mark, 20cm high, neck broken and gluedCONDITION: The neck is broken in several sections and messily re-glued.
