[British Museum], 58mm high, sold with metal display standThe British Museum website (https://www.britishmuseum.org/collection/term/BIOG191526) states: Cottee Arthur Burland joined the Department of Ethnography at the British Museum in 1925, working there for 40 years. Served in the Royal Air Force. In 1950 he became honorary curator for the Abbey Art Centre Museum in Hertfordshire. His work was mainly in Latin American pre-Hispanic cultures. He was awarded the Imago Mundi Award in 1965. His publications include: Art and the Life in Ancient Mexico (1948), The Magic Arts: A Short History (1966), The Gods of Mexico (1967), North American Indian Mythology (1967), Peru Under the Incas (1967), Montezuma: Lord of the Aztecs (1973), Eskimo Art (1973), Myths of Life and Death (1974), People of the Sun: The Civilizations of Pre-Columbian America (1976).

2 Art Deco 6 setting ceramic coffee sets. A Burgess & Leigh Burleigh Ware set with blue rimmed detail of grape and vine design, complete with milk jug, sugar bowl and tea plates. Together with a pale green set with gilt rims and hand painted floral design signed 'H. Smellie' to the base of each piece.
