Attributed to Margaret Thomson Wilson: A Glasgow School of Arts Brass Coal Box, of rectangular form, the front embossed with Glasgow roses, side carrying handles, on steel legs, monogrammed MTW, 56cm wide, 36cm deep, 38cm highNote: Margaret Thomson Wilson attended Glasgow School of Art where she met fellow art student James Hamilton Mackenzie (1875-1826); the pair married in 1907 and set up a home and studio at 24 Sandyford Place. They travelled to Italy to paint and exhibited at the RSA, RGIFA and RSW. Margaret also designed jewellery, embroidery, and metalwork. One of her best-known works is a standing clock, similar to the present lot, and held by Glasgow Museums (Collection, ID Number E.2003.2)

Casket - one small chip to the corner of the liner but otherwise in good order.

This glass bottle is from 400 to 500 AH (900 to 1000 AD). The bottle has an apple-shaped lower body, elegantly crafted upon a subtle concave base. The facetted, funnel-shaped neck lends an air of sophistication to the overall design, while the body is adorned with intricate concentric circles and rhomboids around the base and shoulder, showcasing the unparalleled skill of Islamic glass artisans.Islamic glass production was a true marvel of its time, characterized by intricate patterns and a remarkable finesse in design. It was a product of the remarkable advancements in science, technology, and the arts that the Islamic world brought forth during its golden age.Dimensions: 8,5 by 8,5 cm and it is 116 gr. It is in good condition, especially considering its age.Provenance: Property of a London Islamic art specialist collector; previously in a collection formed since the 1980s.
This 11th to 12th century AH (17th to 18th century AD) circular tray has a serrated edge and a beautifully sculpted body consisting of two bands of arched-shaped niches, and a central flat field adorned with fine calligraphy inscriptions enclosed in a rounded frame. The entire surface of this tray is covered with interwoven patterns that transport the viewer to a world of infinite beauty and exquisite craftsmanship.The inscription in the center states: My success is due to the will of Allah.The art of calligraphy holds a prominent place in Islamic culture and is evident in the inscriptions that adorn these trays.
