Ursula M Collingwood "Bugle" Watercolour, later inscription verso Bugle watercolour by Ursula Collingwood (Lane Stead, Coniston), 12.5cm by 8cm E Staniforth Iris Signed and indistinctly dated (1798?), inscription verso For Melanie - painted by her ancestor Elizabeth Staniforth who married Captain John Hext of Restormel at Lostwithiel in 1799, painted 1798, 33cm by 23.5cm (2) Ursula Collingwood, daughter of Dorothy Collingwood (whose father was WG Collingwood). She married Reggie Luard-Selby, at times Vicar of Ambleside and Troutbeck. Ursula was an artist like her mother before (specialising in flowers and miniatures). She trained as a mid-wife and worked in the Lakes and London before returning to teach art at Blackwell.
Thomas Tolming "Coniston Old Hall - Launch of the First Gondola" Oil on wooden panel, signed and titled verso 28.5cm by 64.5cm Thomas Tolming was the Reverend Vicar of Coniston. The picture was bought by Mrs D C Hext at James Thompson, Fine Art Auctioneers & Valuers, Kirkby Lonsdale, 4th June 1980, lot 168.

JOSEPH GALEA (1904-1985) - A sunlit cove with moored sailing vessel, signed and inscribed Malta, 5" x 7"; and one further `Mdina`, dated 1958, 5" x 7" (2). The first item of the lot with paper label attached to the frame printed `Galea`s Art Studio, Malta, Souvenirs, Paintings, 17 South Street, Valletta`.
SIR WILLIAM BEECHEY R.A. (1755-1839) AFTER SIR JOSHUA REYNOLDS PRA - Portrait of Mrs Mary Robinson, half length, wearing a black dress and hat, a landscape beyond, inscribed `Mrs Mary Robinson`, oils on canvas in carved giltwood frame, 29" x 24". (see illustration). This painting was one of a number of copies painted by Beechey after Reynolds which according to James Northcote so impressed Reynolds that when he saw them side by side he declared he had great difficulty in recognising his own works. The original hangs at Waddesdon Manor. Provenance: Alaric Watts; Charles Russell sold by his Executors, Sotheby`s, 30 November 1960 Lot 93 bt G.V.R.
