A pair of C H Brannam Barum pottery two handle flared cylinder vases dated 1904, each vase slip decorated in the Art Nouveau style with monogram M E P Nov 1904 within heart and interlaced whiplash motifs, stylised flowers verso, applied scrolling lizard handles, washed in blue, green and brown glazes, inscribed C H Brannam, Barum, TL 1904, RD 44561, 31cm high, S/D. ILLUSTRATED. Consigned by the god-daughter of Mr Charles William Brannam, son of C.H.Brannam. It is believed that the vases decorated " EMP 1904" were commissioned as a birthday or engagement present for Mary Elisabeth Penhale, the wife of Mr Charles William Brannam, married in 1910. Following Charles' death the contents of his family home "Hayne" were disposed of at sale, where they were purchased by the vendor's mother and eventually passed to the vendor in 1984.
