* JOHN NELSON (SCOTTISH 1933 - 2013), MEANDER acrylic on canvas, signed 76cm x 76cm Framed Note: John Nelson was born in Scotland in 1933 and died 2013. He studied contemporary art at Edinburgh College of Art from 1962 to 1967. During his time at Art College John Nelson was awarded a number of contemporary painting and drawing prizes including the Andrew Grant Scholarship. On completion of his studies, a Post Graduate Traveling Art Scholarship took him to France, Holland and Belgium, creating opportunities to exhibit paintings in these countries. From 1971 to 1996 John Nelson was an art lecturer at Stevenson College, Edinburgh. Nelson has variously been a member of The Glasgow League of Artists and chairman between 1975 and 1976. John was also appointed chairman of the Livingston Art Foundation and the Craigmillar Festival Society. John's vibrant and colourful works sit in many private and public collections all over the world including Kirkcaldy Art Gallery and Museum and The Scottish Arts Council. He took part in many exhibitions throughout Scotland every year, a testament to his enduring popularity, and regularly showed work at galleries in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Crieff, Perth, Aberfeldy and the Borders.

She studied Ceramics and Terracotta Sculpture. Her work covers Life Drawing, Painting and Sculpture. Her working life as a Physiotherapist with disabled children has resulted in a deep understanding of Anatomy, Physiology, Movement and Dance. Olive is a member of the Glasgow Society of Women Artists, of Visual Arts Scotland, of Paisley Art Institute and the Royal Glasgow Institute.She has periodic exhibitions with the above Societies and with other artists in joint exhibitions, such as the Barlinnie Special Unit and Maryhill Arts Centre. She was also part of the Celebration of International Women Artists in San Francisco. She has work at present in galleries in Scotland and in private collections in Britain, Spain and Italy.

In 1980 she began a four year Degree course at Glasgow School of Art specialising in Drawing and Painting. After graduating she travelled and painted throughout Europe funded by an Elizabeth Greenshields Scholarship. In 1988 she became a gallery assistant in the Compass Gallery, Glasgow. Here, encouraged by Cyril and Jill Gerber, Lesley began to exhibit more of her artworks winning various prizes and awards, such as The 1991 Scottish Prize, Royal Overseas League London. This gave her the confidence to concentrate on painting full-time. In 1999 Lesley was appointed 'Artist in Residence' at Edinburgh Zoo where her popular "Urban Zoo" exhibition gained funding from the Scottish Arts Council. Since this time Lesley has exhibited throughout the U.K. and as far afield as Singapore and the USA. WORKS IN PUBLIC COLLECTIONS include Aberdeen Art Gallery, BBC Scotland, Motherwell District Libraries, Leicestershire Schools Collection, Lillie Art Gallery, Unilever, TSB Bank, Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, Perth Art Gallery and Museum.
* ALEXANDER ROBB,STILL LIFE WITH FLOWERS AND CERAMICoil on canvas, signed73cm x 63cmFramed.Note: Born in Kirkwall, Orkney, Scotland in 1950, Alexander Robb studied at the Glasgow School of Art between 1968 - 72.Since 1993, Alexander has tutored annual summer schools in Moffat and Dumfries. In 1998, he was invited to teach and show examples of his work in Red Deer College of Art and Design in Alberto, Canada. Alexander's subject matter for his work includes still life, landscape and portraits using a variety of media: oil, gouache, pastel and watercolour. Special emphasis is placed on strong tonal contrast and rich colour, which follows in the tradition of the Glasgow Boys and the Scottish Colourists.
