FAIRPORT CONVENTION - Epiphone acoustic guitar as pictured on the album cover for their 1988 album “Red & Gold” which features the artwork of David Gleeson. This stunning Epiphone No.295 (Serial 373121) with block inlay detail and rosewood back was painted by David Gleeson with images of Roundheads and Cavaliers on the battlefield just below the pickup. One example of a famous battle during the English Civil War was at Cropredy in 1644 and the artwork is no doubt a nod towards this as this is where Fairport Convention hold their annual convention and have done for many years. The current owner was fortunate enough to win this at a charity raffle in 2013 and was presented this great piece of Fairport history by Simon Nicol. Lot further includes a framed copy of the album (LP and sleeve). Great opportunity to own both a work of art and instrument that features on cover of an album by the UK's biggest folk band.
