Maria Helena Vieira da Silva (1908-1992) Abstract pochoir print, framed and mounted under glass, 31 x 21 cm Vieira da Silva was a Portuguese abstractionist painter considered to be a leading member of the European Abstract Expressionism Movement known as Art Informel. Her works feature complex interiors and city views using lines that explore space and perspective. In addition to being a renowned painter, she also explored other mediums such as tapestry and stained glass.

In wartime, he was replaced by the Capitano Generale da Mar, with more ample powers. The office usually had a tenure of three years, but in wartime, the nomination of a new Capitano Generale da Mar was usually accompanied also by the election of a new Provveditore Generale. From the first half of the 16th century, he also appears as the governor of the Venetian Ionian Islands. Eventually this appointment became regularized, as the Provveditore Generale del Levante; with his seat at Corfu, the Provveditore Generale da Mar was the senior civil and military governor of the Ionian Islands in peacetime. The office was abolished after the fall of the Republic of Venice and the start of French rule in the Ionian Islands in June 1797

He graduated in philosophy and medicine at the University of Padua. To support his large family, he worked, throughout his life, as a cosmographer, historian, cartographer, astronomer, astrologer, physician, traveller, art chronicler, encyclopedist, and even as a bookseller. In 1606 he obtained the privilege of printing his works from the Grand Duke of Tuscany. Between 1607 and 1608 we find him instead in Bologna, carrying out his activity as a street doctor and astrologer. Thanks to the protection of cardinal Benedetto Giustiniani, Rosaccio was able to defend himself from the attacks of the Bologna Academy, who considered him a charlatan. He died in 1620, perhaps in Florence.

Original vintage travel poster Colete Encarnado Vila Franca de Xira / Red Vest Franca de Xira Village. The Colete Encarnado - The Red Vest is the biggest party of Vila Franca de Xira and one of the biggest regional festivals of Ribatejo. It was held for the first time in 1932 and its mentor was the great agrarian Jose Van-Zeller Pereira Palha, prevailing figure of Vila Franca having been its mayor. The Incarnate Vest always takes place on the first weekend of July and has as its main figure the Campino, an odd figure of the Ribatejana lezíria, which is honored annually by the Mayor of Pampilho de Honor to a campino chosen among their peers. It is a party that lasts three days, consisting of bullfights in some streets of the city (Rua Joaquim Pedro Monteiro, Rua Serpa Pinto, Rua 1º de Dezembro, Largo 5 de Outubro and Praça de Toiros Palha Blanco), for parties in Tertúlias, for concerts in various parts of the city (Av Pedro Victor, Largo da Misericórdia, Municipal Market, Mártir Santo, etc) that promote a conviviality between its inhabitants and the thousands of vacationers who visit Vila Franca at this time. Typically the program also includes a Rociera Mass (Friday), a concert by the Band of the Artistic Atheneum Vilafranquense (Saturday), Concentration of traditional boats, delivery of the Pampilho de Honor, parade of campinos. Navagero worked as an editor with Aldus Manutius. Literature: Adams N94; EDIT 16 CNCE 34919. Provenance: Contemporary ink inscription of a Brother ?Gregorius announcing himself as custodian of this book or possibly the whole library of which this a part (ink inscription beneath colophon).
