The Derby Posies on the whole is in nice, bright condition with no major problems. The small teapot looks good as does the larger teapot, cups and saucers. There some 'minor' darkening to underside of cups (the foot) as expected and commensurate with usage.
An early 19th century English porcelain part tea/coffee service; comprising teapot and cover, lidded boat-shaped sucrier and stand (damaged), six cups, two coffee cans, a large dish and an six deep saucers, each piece hand gilded and decorated with iron oxide reds, cobalt blues etc. with palm trees and stylised flowers etc.Condition Report: One the handles of the lidded boat-shaped sucrier is away and in two pieces (inside the sucrier), the lid is good but there is some minor rubbing to the gilding and some minor discolouration to the pattern in parts. The large cake plate exhibits some minor marking as do three of the saucers which are noted to have hairlines to the undersides (hardly visible). The tea cups exhibit some wear to the gilding but in better condition than some of the other pieces. Two of the tea cups does not 'ring true' thereby indicating a hairline somewhere, ditto two of the coffee cans, one other coffee can has a one inch has a hairline crack emanating from the lip. The teapot is not perfect - its exhibits a small matchhead sized chip to the underside of the lip of the spout, the teapot lid seems OK with no chips, cracks or restorations and the gilding is bright (boat-shaped finial has darkened a little), the teapot handle is in reasonable condition (some gilt rubbing to be expected with usage), a minor two cm crack along the bottom (not visible on the inside).
