An extensive Royal Doulton "Sonnet" pattern tea and dinner service, 20th century, comprising 11 dinner plates, 17 desert place, 10 side plates, 8 cereal bowls, 2 round tureens, 2 oval tureens with covers, large meat plate, gravy boat and stand, 6 tea cups and 6 saucers, milk jug, cream jug, sucrier and teapot.
A Minton porcelain teapot and stand with matching trio, mid 19th century, hand painted with floral vignettes against a matt green ground, the borders with pink leaves and gilt decorations, pattern number 563, teapot 27 cm wide (spout to handle), height 14.5 cm high. CONDITION REPORT: The coffee cup is in good order with only very light gilt rubbing to the top of the handle, it rings out nicely when tapped. The tea cup is structurally in good order with two very small scratches to the interior approximately 7 mm and 3 mm long. There is very light rubbing on the tip of the handle. The tea cup rings out nicely when tapped. The saucer is again in generally good order although it has numerous small surface specks and scratches around the cup well. The gilding and decoration on all is in good order. There is light gilt rubbing to the interior well and also the rim of the saucer. The saucer rings out nicely when lightly tapped. The teapot lid is in good order throughout with no obvious faults. The teapot is in good order throughout and rings our nicely when tapped, with a very minor surface scratch to the middle of the teapot just above the moulded waist and a small pinhead size scratch to the green band on the rim. There is a small 2 cm x 5 mm section of discolouration beneath the teapot shoulder but on close inspection this is not restoration but a factory flaw. The teapot stand, the out well aperture to the centre has numerous scratch marks all around, there are three small patches of scratch marks framing the gilt centre band. The gilt centre band also has numerous scratch marks. The enamel decoration all appears to be in order and the stand appears to be free from any chips, cracks or restorations. There is very light rubbing to the gilt rim, the stand rings out nicely when lightly tapped.
