A CARVED SOAPSTONE FIGURE OF A LADY, 1900sChina, late Qing dynasty (1644-1912) - Republic period (1912-1949). The figure is shown standing and holding a large teapot in both her hands. She wears a shawl over her shoulders, an elaborated ruyi-head and petal collar and a long flowing robe that falls to cover her feet. Her hair is worn in an elaborate topknot. The stone is of warm ivory color with iron red inclusions. Condition: With some wear and chips to exposed areas, some losses, restorations to the topknot, neck, and shawl. A George V three-piece silver tea service, Harold Edwin Landon, Chester 1932, each of compressed form on circular foot with loop handles, rope twist borders and planished finish, teapot with wooden knop and handle, 14.8cm high, gross weight 28.90ozt (3)CR; Light denting to the teapot. There is some misshaping to the foot of the teapot, and the teapot does wobble on a level surface. Some thinning around the spout, but no other signs of thinning, splitting or repair throughout. Some wear to the hammered decoration around the waist. Hinged cover in working order, though does not sit completely flush. Handle is slightly wobbly. Light scratching and wear throughout commensurate with age and use.Milk jug has some light denting/misshaping to the base, and has a very slight wobble on a level surface. A Secessionist tea service, early 20th century, comprising: a teapot and cover, six teacups and saucers, a sucrier and cover, and a milk jug, each piece with stylised gilt edged floral reserves against a blue grey ground, gilt handles and finials, each piece monogrammed "EAB" and inscribed "E.A.B." to base, the majority with Limoges maker's marks, but one cup and saucer with Silesia marks (15) (at fault) CONDITION REPORT:The milk jug shows a loss to the rim. One cup shows an extensive hairline crack to the body. One cup shows a flaked chip to the rim approximately 5mm wide. One cup shows a glazed and gilded firing pit to the rim. The sucrier shows a glazed and gilded firing fault to the rim. All pieces show fine surface wear and rubbing to the gilt highlights.
