An unusual late-19th century twin-spouted Barge ware teapot with the applied plaque 'A Present to Mrs Halford, 1890' typically decorated and applied with flower heads etc. (19cm high) together with a matched stand This lot has come privately as has the other Barge ware lots (Lots 4 and 15). Lot 10 looks to be in good honest original condition with no restorations or major issues noted. There is some glaze crazing mostly to the crescent shaped plaque bearing the date 1890. The twin spouts appear in good honest original condition and the decoration is bright. The lid of the teapot also appears to be in good honest original condition. The matched stand, similarly so but it is noted that there is what appears to be an original firing crack next to one of the flower head style rosettes but in our opinion this was due to firing and is not later damage.
A 19th century Barge ware pottery teapot with applied plaque 'A Present From A Friend' together with one other similar Barge ware pottery jug 'Make Home Happy' dated 1885 (2), the teapot 20cm high The jug appears to be in good honest general overall original condition with no cracks, chips or restoration noted. The teapot circular cover appears to be generally in good overall original condition except for a match head sized piece of glaze away to the extremity of the underside of the lid. The main teapot again appears to be good with no major chips, cracks or restoration noted. The spout appears to be fine as does the handle. Some of the treacle style glaze does not go all the way down and cover all of the foot where the foot touches the table. There is a little discolouration on the “present” plaque otherwise appears to be in generally overall original condition.
A large 19th century Barge ware pottery teapot decorated in relief with floral sprays, flower heads, exotic birds and surmounted with a teapot finial in the usual way, with the applied plaque 'Remember Me' (30cm high) There is a possibility that the spout on the tea/coffee pot that is the finial on the dome topped cover has been restored, if so it has been done extremely well. The rest of the cover appears to be in good general overall condition with no problems noted. The teapot itself appears large and very heavy with the brown glaze not reaching fully over all of the circular raised foot to the underside. The rest of the piece appears to be in good general overall original condition with no major cracks, chips or restoration noted.
