A Canadian Sterling Silver Coffee and Tea Service, Carl Poul Petersen (1895-1977), act. c. 1944-1975, Montreal; comprised of a coffee pot, teapot, covered sugar and creamer, each hammered body with stiff leaf decoration, bud and leaf finials, ebonized wood handles, coffee pot height 9 1/2 in., combined weight 59.90 troy ozs. Note: Danish-born Petersen apprenticed with Georg Jensen from 1908 to 1913. After moving to Montreal in 1929, he worked as master silversmith at H. Birks & Son. He started his own firm in 1944.
