A George III Scottish presentation oval silver teapot by James Welsh, Edinburgh, 1778, acanthus leaf-embellished spout and bead borders, engraved with swag above coat of arms of city of Edinburgh to one side and presentation oval cartouche to other side inscribed “Anno 1779 Presented by the city of Edinburgh to Thomas Cleghorn Esqr.” etc. for his services as a Magistrate, 26 cm. long, wt. 622 gm. The merchant Thomas Cleghorn was one of 15 magistrates appointed to the Ancient Royalty, one of the two districts of Edinburgh The inscription is hard to read as it is worn but is all visible. There are some minor chips to the wood at base of finial, the cover has been made with an internal strengthener to the hinge which is often seen, there is a repair to the seam at back and a repair around upper section of handle, fully marked on base. There is some wear to the beading around upper rim.

A Chinese bullet shaped teapot and cover, Qianlong circa 1780, enamelled decoration of figures in a garden, a sparrow beak jug enamelled birds on a flowering branch and a cylinder vase with seal mark under (3) Condition Report: 535:Teapot - Tiny chip to edge of cover. Tiny frits to spout. Some dimples to glaze.Jug - Handle broken off and replaced with metal handle. Crack to neck and another across spout.Vase - Hair crack from rim down side.
A Chinese blue and white square section teapot, Qianlong, with reticulated panels to the cover and sides within borders of diaper designs, 14cm high/see illustration Condition Report: Tiny frits to rim of spout and a short faint hair crack. Small crack to corner of one reticulated panel. There is a surface layer of unglazed material under the cover, to the inner neck of the pot and to the tips of the feet, this looks layered on top of the porcelain and does not appear to be concealing damage / restoration. Slight chip to neck rim of pot. Overall this looks in good condition with a few minor issues. From a country house collection.
