Edinburgh 1739, makers Archibald Ure and Edward Lothian, of bullet form, the hinged lid with ball finial above a scroll handle opposing a fluted and shaped spout, the lid and upper body with typical engraved floral and leaf decoration, set on a circular stepped foot, weight 26oz 10.5in (25.5cm) wide, 6in (15cm) high. * The crest and motto belong to the Buchan family from Auchmacoy in Aberdeenshire. The motto translates as 'Not following meaner things'.
