A continental porcelain tea set, comprising tray, cup saucer, teapot and milk jug, together with other similar items by Spode and Royal Crown Derby (12). CONDITION REPORT: The floral encrustation to the teapot lid has small chips. Other than this the tea set is in good order with no further damage, no chips, cracks, repairs or restoration. The underside edge of the tray is a little dirty. There is also some minor rubbing to the gilding on this lot. All accompanying Spode and Royal Crown Derby pieces are in good order with no issues.
A large quantity of 19th century Copeland Spode's Italian patterned dinnerware, comprising 12 plates 26 cm, 13 plates 22.5 cm, 10 plates 19 cm, 18 plates 16 cm, a cylindrical lidded pot, 4 shaped plates, 4 ashettes, lidded tureen, teapot, 14 soup bowls, 3 large bowls, 6 coffee cups and saucers, 7 cereal bowls, 2 demi lune side plates, 3 saucers, small lidded tureen with stand, three way dish, sandwich plate small bowl and tureen base and stand only etc (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: It is difficult to date Copeland Spode Italian ware as it was produced from 1816 onwards. These pieces have the oval printed mark and many have the impressed Copeland mark with crown and our best guess is that it is principally 19th century but this is very difficult to be absolutely certain about. There are numerous other Italian patterned pieces in this sale which are clearly later with much more modern back stamps. It would probably be safer to assume that, whilst many of the pieces are Victorian, some could be as late as the 1930's, it is difficult to tell. The largest meat plate length is 37 cm and the two smallest ones are 26 cm.
A large collection of Wedgwood and other blue and white transfer dinner, tea and coffee wares, principally Wedgwood and Barleston "Willow" pattern. Many are marked dishwasher and detergent proof etc. There are some that are older than this but the majority are from this period. All of the items in the lot are included in the photograph. Briefly there are 11 large dinner plates, 12 smaller dinner plates, 12 cereal bowls, 22 side plates, large lidded tureen, small tureen with stand and no lid, 4 large teacups with saucers, 2 smaller teacups with saucers, 12 coffee cups various shapes, 14 small saucers, 4 egg cups various and approximately a further 25 other pieces including 2 sauce boats, teapot, ramekin etc.
A collection of Royal Crown Derby tea and coffee wares, comprising 6 plates, 6 large saucers, 3 large teacups, sugar basin, cream jug, large basin, 6 coffee cups, 6 saucers and two handled cup. CONDITION REPORT: The 6 coffee cups and saucers, basin, cream jug, 2 small bowls and two handled mug are all marked 1128. All pieces are in good order with no chips, cracks, damage, repairs or restoration. There is perhaps some very minor rubbing to the gilding but clearly these pieces seem little used. The remaining items in this lot all match and all have the same back stamp but no style number. One cup is in good order. Two do not ring true when tapped. All other pieces are in good condition with no chips, damage, repairs or restoration. The gilding is generally in extremely good order. They do not appear to be seconds. The teapot is in generally good order with the exception of a hairline crack which runs through the middle two holes that allow the tea into the spout. This is only visible on the inside. One cup has a hairline crack running from the top lip by the handle right down through the base of the cup. One saucer has a 3 cm hairline crack. The sugar basin has some staining to the bottom. We are not sure if this will wash off or not. All other pieces are in good order with no chips, repairs or restoration.
