A Satsuma miniature conical teapotBy Suigetsu, Meiji era (1868-1912), late 19th/early 20th centuryIntricately decorated in enamels and gilt, the body with two panels enclosing figure scenes, one depicting a battle scene with warriors in combat on a lakeshore, the second of townspeople gathered outside a Shinto shrine, all reserved on a ground with a mass of overlapping roundels enclosing geometric motifs, the spout and handle embellished with different-coloured chrysanthemum heads; signed on the base Dai Nihonkoku Satsuma-yaki Suigetsu ga between two confronting dragons. 10.2cm (4in) high.
