A 19th century c.1860 Thai niello gilded silver teapot of cylindrical form, with a liner and split hinged loop handle, the exterior with profuse floral lai dok phuttan decoration, on four bun feet, the lid with an attached floral filigree chain, 20.5cm high including handle, 528g 19th century Thai niello ware has a royal household association, and has long existed in both royal Thai collections and been given as State gifts by Thai royalty. A Chinese porcelain tea service decorated in blue with pagodas and figures in a landscape, with gilt decorated borders and foot rims, no marks. Comprising a 21cm dished plate, six tea bowls and saucers and four cups, a lidded teapot with moulded spout and a small lid. With a paper label 'This blue & white china tea service was brought by Albert Smith from China about 1858. Provenance: By descent from Albert Smith's sister Laura Eady. ** POOR CONDITION. Tea pot extensively broken and stuck back together. Saucers: four with breaks some of which repaired, two with light chips to the rim. Tea bowls: three broken and stuck back together, two with light chips to rim. Cups: three with extensive damage.
