A rare and early Lowestoft teapot and cover c.1768-70, painted in polychrome enamels with a Chinese boy and his mother playing in a garden beneath flowering branches and before a low fence, the slightly domed cover with an open flower knop, cracked, 18.2cm across. (2) Provenance: a private collection in London. Cf. Geoffrey Godden, Lowestoft Porcelains, p.27, pl.18 for a teapot with similar early overglaze enamel decoration.
