A rare Chinese European-subject tea service, c.1740. Painted in the Meissen style with figures beside large barrels and a tent in a woodland landscape, the borders with scrolling gilt designs, minor damages. Comprising: a teapot, cover and stand, a tea canister, a sugar bowl and cover, a spoon tray, a slop bowl, a plate, eight teabowls, six coffee cups and nine saucers. (32)Provenance: recorded in the 1891 will of Miss Anna Rebecca Tregelles of 3 Florence Terrace, Falmouth, as a gift bought from India by her great-grandfather.
