Near pair of Georgian mahogany linen presses, each having two oval cross banded panel doors, beneath fluted and inlaid paterae frieze and dentil moulded cornice, enclosing five sliding shelves over an arrangement of two short and three long drawers, one press with oval gilt metal handles the other drop handles, raised on bracket feet, 126cm wide x 58cm deep x 198cm high (oval handles); 126cm wide x 58cm deep x 199.5cm high (drop handles)Condition report: Overall very good appearance. Mahogany is noticeably darker on oval handled press than the other. Both with overall signs of wear (nibbles along edges, light scratches, etc. comensurate with age and use.Oval handles press with small chip and crack to left corner of cornice, and larger to top of right corner. Further nibbles and slither chips on right side. Patches of fading to oval panels, two vertical cracks in middle of left panel. Upper moulding of drawer base with losses to top edge on left side and large chip (11cm x 2cm) on right side. Fading to drawer fronts.Drop handle press with small loss to left front corner of cornice, vertical cracks following line of grain on both oval panels, including one 260mm long and 2mm wide. 12cm length of moulding missing from right door edge. Half of the upper moulding of the drawer base on the left side has become detached but is complete.
