A George II walnut and feather banded bureau bookcase, circa 1740, in the manner of Giles Grendy, the stylised Vitruvian scroll decorated cornice, above a pair of mirror panelled doors with shaped and egg and dart carved borders opening to adjustable shelves, pigeon holes and small drawers, the hinged rectangular fall opening to an arrangement of small drawers, pigeon holes and a cupboard door flanked by a pair of concealed drawer fronted by false book bindings, above four further long graduated drawers, on shaped bracket feet, 216cm high, 100cm wide, 57cm deep For a related design of bureau bookcase attributed to Giles Grendey, see Dreweatts & Bloomsbury Auctions, Mallet at Home, 7th July 2015, lot 266 (£60,000). Another similar bookcase attributed to Giles Grendey is currently with Philip Colleck, New York (May 2019). Both examples have been attributed Grendey on the grounds of stylistic analogy and feature the distinctive shaped mirror insets to the doors. A Chinese Export black and gilt lacquer kneehole desk, circa 1770, decorated with traditional Chinese village and landscape scenes throughout, the rectangular top above a long drawer and two banks of three short drawers, the central recessed kneehole with a pair of cupboard doors opening to reveal three concealed drawers, on a shaped plinth base and bracket feet, 76cm high, 115cm wide, 73cm deep There is a similar dressing-table in the King's Bedroom at the Royal Pavilion, Brighton (D. Rogers, 'Recreation of Brighton's Royal Pavilion', Connoisseur, August 1968, p. 224, fig. 14).A related George II lacquer dressing-table was ordered in the mid-18th Century through the East India Company by Francis Child (d. 1761), and was listed in the Childs' bedroom at Osterley Park, Middlesex in the 1782 Inventory as 'a handsome Japanned chest-of-drawers' (M. Tomlin, 'The 1782 Inventory of Osterley Park', Furniture History, 1986, p. 116. A George III gilt-mounted ebonised organ clock case with a painted and gilt-mounted dial after Ferri and Rysbrack, for a movement by Charles Clay or George Pyke, mid 18th century The 15.5 arched inch dial polychrome painted after Ciro Ferri with The Virgins tending the fire in the Temple of Vesta and applied with gilt-bronze mounts of the seven muses together with Apollo and Diana and truncated obelisks framing the 4.75 break-arch timepiece dial aperture, the case with broken-arch top and brass-bound panels above floral scroll cast mounts applied to the canted angles, the side doors cast with masks, scrolls and musical trophies, on brass bound moulded base with gilt bracket feet, 108cm. (42.5ins) high This case and dial is one of a small group of known examples produced in London in the mid-18th century for the musical clock maker Charles Clay and his successor George Pyke. This particular case is most closely associated to the Charles Clay organ clock at Castletown House, Celbridge, County Kildare, Ireland which utilises the same gilt bronze dial mounts the design of which has been attributed to John Michael Rysbrack (1694-1770). Other examples sharing the same dial mounts include one dating to 1765 signed by George Pyke in Temple Newsam House, Leeds; The Gerret Braamkamp Clock by Clay dating to 1736-40 (currently in the Museum SpeelKlok, Utrecht); and the magnificent Temple of the Four Grand Monarchies of The World completed by George Pyke circa 1740 residing in the Rotunda at Kensington Palace.The painted scene is virtually a mirror image of a painting by Ciro Ferri (1634-1689) in the Galleria Spada, Rome.
A 19th century eight day long case clock, the hood with swan neck pediment and fluted columns, painted dial with moonphase signed 'Mich Walker Bolton', mahogany carcass with arched door and ogee bracket feet, dial width 36cm & height 216cm. Condition - missing brass finials, right front foot broken, movement not tested, comes with two weights and pendulum.

Condition - various losses and wear, generally sturdy.Condition: chips to rear right side, drawer edges, cornice etc, all as pictured, old splits to side, damage to handle on left side, some minor stress and warping to cupboard door fronts, overall structurally ok, colour and patination good.
