Britain in the Blitz Craven A Advertising Clock & BTH Bakelite Speaker A moulded plastic Craven 'A' Cigarettes advertising wall clock with Smith's Sectric movement (untested), HxW 36.5x33cm. Plus a circular bakelite speaker by BTH, HxD 37.5x34. The speaker front has numerous breaks in it. To include the small wooden bracket shelf which the speaker sits on.condition is good with no obvious cracks or losses the painted finish shows some signs of light wear and patination the electric mechanisn looks original, it is dirty but intact and not testedoverall has a pleasing appearance

A George III ebonised bracket clock, the folding handle above inverted bell top case, arched brass 6inch dial, silvered calendar dial to arch, gilt Indian mask spandrels, signed on a curved plaque 'Cha. Clay, London', additional spandrels to the front door, arched glazed side panels and rear door, fully engraved backplate with single fusee 5 pillar movement converted to anchor escapement, pull repeat, striking on two bells, on ball feet 41cm high (handle folded)seems to run but not tested as to duraction and accuracy. Holes in the backplate implying alteration - in fact probably a Dutch-made clock with an added London name plaque. Could do with some cleaning and polishing.

A rare French provincial silver chocolate pot. Paul Albar,Perpignan, 1762-1763. The baluster body raised on three pad feet to a turned wooden side handle, the hinged cover designed with a swivel-action flower finial and the spout with fluting to lower half, approx.18cm high, approx. weight 16.3ozt Footnotes: Paul Albar (1724-1792) came from a family of Perpignan silversmiths and was the third generation of his family to work in the trade. He registered as a maker in 1749 before embarking on a Grand Tour of France. He is known to have made both religious and secular items, including the silver crown worn by the Virgin Mary in a group of figures from the Château de Cuxou (The Dormition of the Virgin) and a chalice from the parish church of Ille sur Têt. See Pg. 526, Mémoires d'orfèvres: L'orfèvrerie classée Monument historique des églises du Languedoc-Roussillon Condition Report: Some general scratching, pitting and nicking commensurate with age. Scratches to the hinged lid corresponding to the path of the swivelling finial. Hinge bracket pushing in slightly through cover and a small split noted to the inside of cover. Some old solder to hinge bracket. A small patch to the rim above handle. The lid sits slightly raised. Slightly wobbly on its feet. One foot pushing in. Splitting to both sides of the spout. Spout is slightly misshapen with some dings. Scratching to the base. Hallmarks are clear, only a slight bit of rubbing. There is an engraved coat of arms to the body which is slightly worn/rubbed. A pair of Chinese export silver salt cellars. Wing Fat, Canton & Hong Kong, c.1900. The square silver mounts pierced with Chinese characters denoting various wishes including fortune, longevity, peace and health beneath a Guangxu style coin band, each raised on four bracket feet and complete with clear glass liner, mounts stamped 90, with workshop mark of Nan Long, 4.2cm high, total weighable silver approx. 3ozt (2) Footnotes: With thanks to Mr Adrien von Ferscht for his assistance in identifying the maker of this lot.

The shaped body raised on a square base and decorated with flowers, ears of wheat and a vacant, scroll-bordered cartouche, the pull-off cover with spoon aperture and cone finial, 17cm high; together with a gilded copper salver engraved with the Royal coat of arms, probably 19th century, with a floral scroll border and three bracket feet, 25.7cm dia., weighable silver approx. 10.4ozt (2)Provenance: Property from a UK private collection. Condition Report: Sugar vase: good condition commensurate with age. Some minor scratching and nicking. Gilding generally in good condition - very slightly worn at high points eg. corners of base. Cover fits fairly snugly but wobbles depending on orientation (and some gaps around border when in place). A small split near aperture on cover and slightly misshapen here. Very slightly wobbly on base. A few small repairs to border. Maker's mark a little rubbed. Marked to side of body and cover. Slight thinness to cartouche - probable erasure. A 19th century mahogany clock bracket, with rounded moulded corners and with scroll carved support beneath. Height 23 cm, width 32.5 cm, depth 21 cm.The bracket is structurally sound and shows signs of age-related wear to include dents, scratches, there is also a slight speckling of emulsion paint where some one has painted around it on a wall. At the very front top left hand-side on the front edge there is a crack to the timber which runs approximately the full length of the bracket, at the left-hand side however it is slightly loose, it has presumably been stored at some point upside down and there is some water staining to the underside.
An early 19th century mahogany bowfronted chest of drawers, two short over three long drawers with brass drop handles with circular backplates with shaped apron beneath and raised on splayed bracket feet. Height 107 cm, width 101 cm, depth 54 cm.The chest is structurally sound with no loose joints. The top is flat with no splits. There are some surface scuffs and ring marks and discoloured polish. The moulded edge is all present. The drawer veneer fronts are in generally good order and well figured. The majority of the cockbeading is present with only very minor losses to the top left-hand drawer bottom left corner. There are other minor scuffs and small veneer repairs to the uprights. The sides of the chest are in generally good condition and all bracket feet are original and present. The backboards are original. We can see no evidence of any woodworm. The handles are later but cover the original handle holes when viewed from the front. The two short drawers have no locks. The long drawers all have their locks present, however there are no keys. None of the door drawers are actually locked.
