A Regency mahogany secrétaire bookcase cabinet, the upper section with moulded and dentil cornice over a plain frieze and a pair of satinwood strung glazed and barred doors enclosing adjustable shelving, the base with applied reeded edge over a fitted secrétaire drawer with satinwood fronted drawers and various pigeon holes, bearing silver plaque inscribed "The Liverpool Provision Trade Association Limited Presented to William H Challiner (President 1894-1895) by His Fellow Members on his Retirement from Business 31 Dec 1919", the drawer with gilt brass lion mask ring handles and over two panelled cupboard doors, raised on a bracket foot base CONDITION REPORTS 121 cm wide x 234 cm high
A modern mahogany reproduction serpentine fronted sideboard, the cross-banded top above three drawers and four cupboard doors on bracket feet, together with a circular extending dining table, the cross-banded top above simulated frieze drawers on a central quadruped pedestal with square tapered end supports (including two extra leaves)
An oak dresser, the three tier boarded plate rack over three long and three short drawers raised on turned supports united by a pot shelf on bracket feet (19th century and later) CONDITION REPORTS Wear, scuffs, chips. Some fan decoration/moulding missing. Holes drilled to back. Some splits and separating and joins. Drawers crooked and require some attention. Losses to handles. Top section/plate rack appears to be newer (possibly 20th or 21st Century). Base appears to be 19th Century and later.
A modern black lacquered and japanned cutlery cabinet with rising lid above three drawers and two cupboard doors on bracket feet CONDITION REPORTS Overall with some general wear and scuffs, and some knocks and small chips, cupboard doors have magnetic catches, overall condition appears reasonable.
A Continental pine and ebonised coffer with ornate ironwork hasp and staple lock, ornate iron bracket decoration and hinges raised on block feet CONDITION REPORTS Knocks, dumps, chips to edges, surface scratches, some staining throughout conducive to age and general use - please see photos. The top has a split from the left has side running along the top all the way across to just beyond the central hinge, the dark staining throughout is very rubbed, the top has also had somebody writing on it and you can see a imprint in the top, there are also several deep pitting marks to the lid. However, generally the piece appears sound but would benefit from general restoration.
An Edwardian mahogany and inlaid three piece bedroom suite comprising wardrobe compactum with central glazed doors over a recess and two drawers flanked by mirrored doors enclosing hanging spaces over two large drawers on splayed bracket feet, together with the matching drop centre dressing table with oval mirror over a central drawer flanked by two banks of four drawers, and a matching tile back marble top wash stand with two drawers over two cupboard doors on square tapered legs to castors, together with a similar single door pot cupboard (4) CONDITION REPORTS Please note that the horse figures in the photos are NOT part of this lot. Condition - Wear, scuffs, scratches, some stains, chips and losses. Glazed doors have some losses including broken and missing glass and they are not currently attached. Overall some broken and missing edges and mouldings, some cracks and losses. Marble top is very damaged and deteriorated and has large areas missing.
A George III mahogany crossbanded oak longcase clock, 33cm arched painted dial. convex Arabic chapter, subsidiary seconds dial, date aperture, floral spandrels, Adam and Eve automaton to arch, twin winding holes, signed Mawkes/Derby, the eight day movement striking on a bell, hood with swan neck cornice terminating in brass stamped roundels, centred with a ball and spire finial, turned columns, shaped door to waist flanked by canted angles, outswept base, bracket feet, 218cm high, c.1830 ***William Mawkes was the fourth son of Thomas Mawkes (1740-1821) a former apprentice and employee of the celebrated John Whitehurst, FRS. William, who was born in 1782, worked with his father until his death and then on his own account until c. 1830. This is the first recorded example of an automaton clock by this maker.
