*John Shaw of Holborn - A late 17th century walnut and seaweed marquetry inlaid long case clock, the square brass 12" dial having signed silvered chapter ring with Roman and Arabic numerals, cast cherub spandrels, matted centre with date aperture within engraved surround depicting the Doves of Pliny, subsidiary seconds dial, twin ringed winding holes for a brass eight day five pillar weight driven movement striking on a bell, with brass cased weights, the finely inlaid case with pedestal vase issuing flowers and foliage with single bird, around a glass lenticel, to further inlaid boxbase, h.220cm Condition Report / Extra Information Stands well.With crank key, weights and pendulum.No door key.Weights are brass cased but brass completely tarnished.Glass to lenticel is probably old replacement.Case and veneers generally excellent, some minor losses as pictured only.Backboard with numerous old fixing holes.Traces of old worm to bracket feet.Colour good to very good.Seatboard appears to be later replacement.One cheek built up.Dial and movement appear all original.Some tarnishing to silvered chapter ring.Provenance; known to have stood in Thorne Court near Bury St Edmunds for several generations, and removed from that address.

A mid 18th Century oak cased thirty hour longcase clock by John Bunting, Long BuckbyThe clock with a moulded cornice above a blind fretwork frieze over the 10" brass dial with a Roman numeral chapter ring and a central inset date aperture, the dial embraced by openwork spandrels and centred with the makers name, the plain case with a shaped door above a conforming lower panel and bracket feet, complete with single weight and pendulum, 105cm high.
