An early George III tortoiseshell and gilt metal pair cased verge pocket watch by Samuel Denton of Oxford, No.96 (?), the white enamel dial with Roman and Arabic numerals and with gilt hands, the verge movement with finely pierced and engraved watch cock and bracket and with rectangular baluster pillars, contained in plain gilt inner case and tortoiseshell covered outer case, with fine gilt pin studding, 50mm diameter (some pins missing and gilded metal rubbed) Note: Samuel Denton recorded working as a Watchmaker in High Street, Oxford circa 1760 and died 1796.
