Half wooden stock with fluted butt and pierced, silver inlays. Brass mounts, barrel bracket en suite with inlays. Brass-tipped, wooden ramrod with iron cartridge extractor. length 165 cm.

dating: about 1690 provenance: Sezze, Smoothbore barrel, two-stage, 16 mm cal. barrel, octagonal at the first part with a base decorated with a raised frame and engraved floral motifs, then sixteen-faceted (partially with pitting) at the second part and with a muzzle ring equipped with a foresight. Large tang with sight. Rounded plate lock with brass pin provided with a lever on the left side which, with a single rotation (about 250 degrees), cocks the hammer, triggers the bascinet, lowers the batterie and introduces the ball and the powder into the powder chamber. The large tang with broad rear sight, engraved with floral motifs like the butt-plate and the other mounts of the lock, the mount above the pin (and under the cup) signed 'DIAMANTE A SEZZE'; the lever with safety lock; powder gate and ball opening. Briarwood stock and fore-end (with old stock restorations), beautiful iron mounts engraved with floral motifs, partially carved and pierced, some inlaid. The butt plate can be opened with a button, carved and pierced iron barrel bracket. One of the rare signed shotgun of the Berselli / Lorenzoni system with an even rarer signature. The system is often called the Lorenzoni system but it is more likely that the Berselli dynasty invented this revolutionary system. A fine model of an Italian repeating gun, provided with a socalled 'all back' system. dating: Mid 19th Century provenance: Pistoia, Smoothbore, two-stage, browned, 18 mm cal. barrel, engraved with floral motifs at the base, octagonal at the first part with two gold-inlaid marks among three lilies by a gunsmith from Pistoia (Tuscany, Italy), then round after smooth rings and a beaded one, with silver swallowtailed foresight; engraved tang; backward spring lock engraved with floral motifs. Half stock with checkered, fishbone hand rest and base, butt finely sculpted with a dragon in the lower part and with a trophy on the left side, iron mounts decorated en suite, the butt plate with closed magazine and opening button. Press secure-lock behind the ring-guard. Brass-tipped ramrod with iron cartridge extractor, silver barrel bracket. length 82 cm.

A late 17th century ebonised bracket clock by Jacobus Hassenius, LondiniSurmounted by a twin-dolphin handle on the caddy top over a narrow moulded cornice, rectangular glazed apertures to a moulded base and block feet, the 6.5in square brass dial with winged cherubs head spandrels and silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring, the matted centre with engraved flower spray, the twin-fusee movement with five knopped pillars and engraved back plate, striking on a bell, 31cm high.Jacobus Hessenius was a Russian watchmaker who was made a Free Brother of the Worshipful Company of Clockmakers in 1682-3. It is thought that he returned to Russia in circa 1697, the same year that Peter The Great arrived in London to study the craft of shipbuilding and the latest developments in science and technology, returning to the motherland with an army of experienced craftsmen in tow. There he built a powerful navy, as was his aim to ramp up his empire-building capabilities. Without doubt, Hassenius' experience of working in London would have been highly valuable to the Tsar, more than likely obliging him to return to his homeland.Case: General light wear, signs of age and small repairs including fine split to left end of front door sound hole; splits to lower corner of right hand side; small section of cornice in-filled at the back right side; Fine splits to rear door; fine splits to left hand side. Section of veneer missing from lower right base.Dial: Minor signs of age including very fine cracklure to numerals visible under strong light.Movement: Winds, sets, runs and strikes during inspection - not tested for timekeeping or longevity.
