An Attractive 18th Century Lancashire Banded Oak Dresser of pleasing proportions. The edge-moulded top above a central frieze drawer and cupboard flanked by four graduated drawers either side inlaid with burr-oak border bands, edged in cock-beading and raised on bracket feet, 35" (89 cm) high, 65" (165 cm) wide, 22" (56 cm) deep.
A Large 18th Century Oak & Walnut Cross-banded Low Enclosed Dresser of good colour & patination. The central cupboard enclosed by a pair of unusual stepped arch topped doors flanked by three lip-moulded drawers either side, and enhanced by the walnut veneers of the rails and stiles. Standing on bracket feet 33" (84 cm) high, 83" (211 cm) wide, 20" (51 cm) deep.
Three Carved Oak Fragments: An 18th century relief carved rail centred by a winged cherub's head flanked by fruit garlands and swagged drapery held between griffins either side, 5" x 36½" (13 cm x 93 cm), a small oak ornamental bracket carved in the form of an eagle, 9" (23 cm) high, 2" (5 cm) wide, 3½" (9 cm) deep, and a 19th century panel relief carved with a female angel on scrolling clouds holding a spray of lilies, 13" x 10" (33 cm x 26 cm).

Signs of wood worm (not live), one missing handle, general scuffs and scratches, loose to veneer, slight tarnishing to the brass handles. A Regency mahogany longcase clock, 33cm circular enamel dial inscribed Whitehurst & Son, Derby, Roman and subsidiary Arabic numerals, twin-winding holes, 8-day movement striking on a bell, the well-figured case with swan neck pediment with draught-turned roundels, shaped rectangular drawer to waist, flanked by canted angles, skirted base, bracket feet, 217cm high, 1809/1810 John Whitehurst II (1761-1834) succeeded to the business of his celebrated uncle John Whithurst FRS in 1788 and took into partnership his son John Whitehurst III in 1809, beginning to number clocks from shortly afterwards. The son took over from 1834 and died in 1855 after which the firm was run by Roskell of Liverpool until it closed in 1862. The lack of a number on the movement of this clock indicates a date of c. 1809/1810. Condition Report: Not currently set up in working order, the movement has been cleaned and has been working in the vendor's home for a couple of decades, all in good order.
