An 18th century inlaid walnut bureau, the fall front above four graduated long drawers, on bracket feet, 94 cm wide See illustration Condition report Report by RB Quite a lot of wear and tear, as you would expect for a piece of its age. Some splits, veneer and crossbanding sections missing, some old worm, predominantly to the sides, the fall front is slightly warped, the interior has patches let in around the hinges and there is quite a lot of old ink staining also, the handles are replacements, with holes slightly visible through them. Oak draw linings. Some veneer lifting from the bracket feet, which are probably later. All in all quite a nice piece and the estimate reflects its condition as it now requires some tlc, repair and restoration
A chest, veneered in walnut, having two short and three graduated long drawers, on ogee bracket feet, 101.5 cm wide See illustration Condition report Report by RB The top veneer is probably later, as its lacklustre, in which case it was done a long time ago as there are now splits, tears and slight losses to it, the sides have fairly plain veneer as well, the drawers originally had split pin handles, and the two short drawers are now missing their locks, veneer slightly lifting in parts, from a good local private client who we have done a lot of work for over the years, now requiring some tlc and a bit of restoration.
A 19th century oak dresser, the three tier plate rack above three frieze drawers, on baluster turned legs joined by a pot board base and bracket feet, 186 cm wide See inside front cover colour illustration Condition report Report by RB From a local deceased estate and in a fresh to the market condition. The plate rack: small section missing to the cornice, on the right hand return side, pine back boards, and pine plate stands, faced in oak, with lovely looking iron hooks, various scratches and wear as you would expect, but you should be able to see a triangular shaped section missing where it reaches the dresser base (on the vertical boards). The base: the two plank top has moved/separated, with a gap of about 0.5 cm wide, but you can see the dowels where it just needs to be pushed back together, some staining, ring marks and scratches etc, the handles are later replacements, nicely turned legs to the front, the pot board base with various stainings/gaps, and the bracket feet with various knocks. Basically quite original, now requiring a bit of a wipe over and a clean.
