A George I burr walnut bureau bookcase, circa 1720, cornice centred by an eagle finial, above an oval mirror, pair of arched bevelled mirrored doors, opening to cupboards, drawers and pigeon holes, above two candle slides, the fall opening to cupboards, drawers, pigeon holes, sliding well and baize inset writing surface, above two short and two long drawers on bracket feet, 254cm high, 103cm wide, 60cm deep. Provenance: Formerly the property of Major John Courtauld of Burton Park, Chichester. Thence by family before gifted by Jeanne Courtauld to current vendor.
