A RARE FAMILLE-ROSE PORCELAIN SCONCE, QIANLONG PERIOD Size: 15.9 cm (D)The branch is in the form of an arm, with the hand clutching the candle-holder, issuing from a teardrop-shaped bracket decorated with cloud scrolls in bright enamels. The arm is glazed white with a gilt bracelet and a gilt base to the candle-holder. See Clayton, The Collector’s Dictionary of Silver and Gold of Great Britain and North America, pl. 38, for a pair of silver-gilt sconces with branches in the form of human arms, bearing London hallmarks for 1684, in the collection of the V&A Museum.
