Chater, London, Roman numerals, twin winding holes, eight-day twin-fusee movement striking on a bell, the backplate engraved with a wrigglework dog tooth border,the arched case with brass carrying handle, borders and pierced gilles, ogee bracket feet, 40cm high, c.1805 Richard Chater (1760-1811) was a third generation London maker, son of Eliezer Chater, of Cornhill. He was apprenticed to his father 1774 & was free of the clockmakers' Company 1781. His grandfather James Chater was very eminent and a maker of musical clocks.

Tennison/Chesterfield, Roman numerals, the arch painted with castle ruins the spandrels with hanging game, subsidiary date and seconds dials, twin winding holes, eight day movement striking on a bell, the hood with swan neck pediment, and lotus capped pillars, arched rectangular door to waist, bracket feet, 228cm high, c.1835Reuben Tennison was born in Hornsea, (Yorks ER) 1799 was apprenticed 1813-1820, married Mary Thompson at Chesterfield in 1831 and had two sons and a daughter. He worked from New Square and later from Market Place in Chesterfield recorded 1827 to 1849 when he appears to have died. An oak cased clock by him was sold locally in 1991.

Condition Report: The upper part of the pediment has been removed at some time, no doubt to accommodate the clock in a low ceilinged room
An early Victorian mahogany crossbanded oak longcase clock, 29cm square dial inscribed Leeds, West End, Sittingbourne, Roman numerals, subsidiary seconds and calendar dials, thirty hour movement striking on a bell, swan neck pediment turned columns, arched rectangular door to waist, flanked by reeded quarter columns, bracket feet, 210cm high, c.1840 Paul Colley Leeds was born in March 1813, son of Amos and Rebecca Leeds, was apprenticed 1827 to 1834 and was working at West End, Sittingbourne, Kent from 1838 to 1874. He married Leonora Cruttenden in 1843, and died in 1896.
An early George III oak longcase clock, 24cm square brass dial with silvered chapter ring, inscribed Wm Burchell/Northampton, Roman numeral, thirty hour bird cage movement striking on a bell, stepped cornice, turned columns, rectangular door to waist, flanked by quarter columns, bracket feet, 207cm high, c.1760William Silvanus Burchell is recorded as having worked at Northampton in the 1760s Condition Report: mouldings detached from case, but all present.
An early Victorian mahogany long case clock, 31cm arched enamelled dial inscribed William Atkin, Ticknall, the arch painted with ladies in a garden, the spandrels with thatched cottages, Roman numerals, subsidiary seconds dial, date aperture, twin winding holes, eight day movement striking on a bell, swan neck pediment, turned columns, shaped rectangular door to waist flanked by canted angles, bracket feet, 227cm high, c.1840William Atkin was born at Burton-on-Trent in January 1795 son of Samuel Atkin, apprenticed 1809 and was in business by 1820. By his wife Sarah he had three children, Henry, James and Ellen. He died in October 1864. Condition Report: Base panel loose; glass in door to dial cracked, veneers lifting on dial surround, lart of ivorine excutcheon missing.
