A near pair of miniature mahogany serpentine chests, each with five long drawers with chequer stringing on ogee bracket feet, 44cm wide 24.5cm deep 43cm high, and 43.5cm wide 24cm deep 44.5cm high (2) CONDITION REPORT: One with replacement veneer to both sides at rear, 10 x 1.5cm and 10 x 1cm tapering. Minor stringing loss, scuffs and dents. The other with a 7cm split to one side.
A George III mahogany serpentine chest, with four oak-lined drawers, the top drawer with compartments, raised on bracket feet, 109cm wide 60.5cm deep 92.5cm high CONDITION REPORT: Stain to the top, split to the left back corner of the top. Cock beading and veneer loss and restoration to carcass and drawer fronts. Front right bracket foot split, has been replaced but now detained. Bottom two drawers locked, re-veneered to third drawer down to carcass above lock.
An oak wall shelf, modelled as a grinning jester holding an elliptical tray, with loss and damage, 47cm high CONDITION REPORT: Hat restuck to one side. Loss to hands, bracket added to hold tray, new(ish) screw through other hand to hold tray. Base of mount with loss and restuck Additional images available (upon request).
A George III Oak & Mahogany Cross-banded Eight Day Long-case Clock (A/F). The painted 12 inch (30.5 cm) dial having an oval portrait medallion in the arch depicting a young girl with garland of flowers, fanned motifs to the corners and subsidiary calendar and seconds dials to the centre. The hood with a pagoda pediment surmounted by spired brass ball finials and having fluted columns flanking the dial. The lip moulded trunk door inlaid with a conch shell in a navette shaped panel flanked by canted sides and standing on a moulded base with bracket feet, 93 ins (236 cms) overall in height.
An 18th Century Cross-banded Oak Bureau of Small Proportions. The lip moulded fall front on side loper supports opening to reveal a fitted interior of pigeon holes and drawers. The three graduated lip-moulded drawers below standing on bracket feet, 35 ins (89 cms) high, 27 ins (69 cms) wide, 20 ins (51 cms) deep.
A Large 18th Century Oak Floor Standing Corner Cupboard with secrètaire drawer. The dentil moulded cornice above full length stop-fluted break-front pilasters flanking two panelled upper doors enclosing a painted interior of shaped shelves, a fall front secrètaire and three further drawers below on bracket feet, 93½ ins (237 cms) high, 55 ins (140 cms) wide.
A Fine 18th Century North Wales Oak Dresser & rack. The plank-backed rack having a moulded cornice above shaped canopy frieze and three shelves with plate grooves and applied edge moulding. The base section fitted with three lip moulded frieze drawers above two cupboard doors flanking three central fielded panels and raised on low bracket feet, 82¼ ins (209 cms) high, 58½ ins (149 cms) wide, 20 ins (51 cms) deep.
A Fabulous Late 15th Century French Oak Coffer of impressive proportions. The five front panels intricately carved with tracery filled Gothic arches incorporating quatrefoil fleurettes. The panels divided by spired pillars chip-carved with wrythen strings and flanked by bands of trefoil tracery. The moulded base rail carved with a row of tracery quatrefoils above bracket feet, bound in iron straps. The twin paneled sides enriched with linen-fold carving and ball flowers, with residual red paintwork to the tracery. 39¼ ins (100 cms) high, 69 ins (175 cms) wide, 29½ ins (75 cms) deep.
A Fabulous 15th Century Gothic Oak Canted Dressoir. The cavetto moulded top studded with carved bosses of wrythen foliage above a two cupboard doors and a drawer enriched with intricate tracery carving and linen fold side panels. The cupboard raised on square uprights supports to the front with a triple panelled back of further linen fold carving leading down to a base shelf on bracket feet, 62 ins (158 cms) in height, 48 ins (122 cms) wide, 20 ins (51 cms) deep.
A Small Walnut Veneered Bureau inlaid with feather banding within cross-banded borders. The fall front on loper supports opening to reveal a stepped interior of pigeon holes, concave fronted drawers and a stationary well, above three lip moulded drawers on bracket feet, 37 ins (94 cms) in height, 23 ins (59 cms) wide, 19¼ ins (49 cms) deep.
A Malby's terrestrial table-top globe on stand, inscribed "Malby's 37 Parker Street London January 1st 1857", the whole raised on a turned column with circular turned base CONDITION REPORTS Diameter of globe approx. 12 cm. Diameter of stand/base approx. 13 cm. Globe with generally quite a lot of yellowing and browning to the surface, appears to have a glazed/varnished finish which has quite a lot of craqueleur, quite a few knocks, chips and scuffs to the surface, small split near the lower hole to the Antarctic Continent where the metal supporting bracket fits into the globe approx. 5 cm long, some dirt, and flaking to surface, wood base with quite a lot of scuffs and losses to finish and metal supporting bracket with some knocks and dents.
A 19th Century French brass gorge cased carriage clock, the movement by Pierre and Alfred Drocourt of Paris, with alarm, No'd. verso "14407", the base with circular enamelled dial and Roman numerals over a subsidiary alarm dial with Arabic numerals, all raised on an ogee plinth base to bracket feet, 18 cm high including handle, housed in a leather covered outer travel case CONDITION REPORTS Outer carrying case is very scuffed, worn and faded, and has some damage and losses and strap is broken. Clock has wear, dirt and tarnish, glass appears OK, appears to have some slight mis-shaping to hands, but overall appearance and condition seems to be reasonably good. It is not known whether clock is in full working order.
A 19th century lacquered brass gorge cased carriage clock by George Moore of London, the movement with alarm and repeat, No'd. 6370, striking on a bell, visible escapement, the face with circular enamelled dial with Arabic and Roman numerals over a subsidiary alarm dial with Arabic numerals, the case with all-over foliate and swag engraved decoration, the rear door with five peep hole key apertures, the inner plate inscribed "Geo Moore 21 St. John's Square London", raised on an ogee plinth base to bracket feet, 17 cm high including handle CONDITION REPORTS Overall with general wear and scuffs, glass appears OK, overall condition appears reasonably good, although it is not known whether clock is in full working order.
A 19th Century mahogany chest on chest of large proportions, the dentil cornice above two short and three long graduated drawers on a base with brushing slide over three long graduated drawers with ornate brass swan neck handles, raised on bracket feet, 124 cm wide x 199 cm high CONDITION REPORTS Some general wear and scuffs, knocks and chips, overall appears to have had sympathetic restoration with various splits, chips, etc. restored so that ti now has a good tidy finish, although there are still some scuffs, splits, etc.
A George III mahogany straight front chest, the rectangular moulded edge top over two short and three long graduated drawers with brass swan neck handles, raised on shallow bracket feet, 109 cm wide CONDITION REPORTS Has various deep scratches and some fading to the top, some slight water marks to top, knocks and bumps throughout to all edges conducive with age and general wear, there is a split on the left side as you look at the chest from the base to approx. a third of the way up, and a split running from top to bottom on the other side, on the top there is an approx. 0.5 cm x 0.5 cm piece of veneer missing from one edge, drawers all appear quite faded in colour (due to being in sunlight), top left drawer missing beading to edge completely on the left side, handles are probably replacements, there has been a patch repair approx. 1.5 cm x 1 cm above the left hand top drawer just above the key escutcheon on the top edge, the central long drawer has a very deep scratch/knock running from top to bottom (please see photo), although the chest appears sound it would benefit greatly from sympathetic restoration and polishing.
