Camerer, Cuss & Co., a Victorian ebonised bracket timepiece, the 7 1/2" white dial with Roman numerals, the movement by Winterhalder and Hofmeier, the back pencil written C.C &Co, Broad St, the case with floral scroll spandrels, the back cover with trade label, pendulum, key.Winterhalder and Hofmeier were started by Anton Winterhalder in Schwarzenbach, Germany in 1810, taking Anton Hofmeier into partnership in 1850, with the business finally closing on the death of Winterhalder's last son Linus in 1910.Camerer Cuss & Co. was a partnership of David Kuss and Andrew Kammerer who came to London from Germany in 1845 to import and sell Black Forest clocks. During WWII it merged with Hallpikes of Kensington and is still trading.
Regency mahogany-cased domestic regulator - Edwards, Shoreditch, the 12-inch circular white Roman dial with subsidiary beneath XII, inscibed 'Edwards 17 Shoreditch', the knopped five-pillar movement striking on a bell, the architectural case with pedimented hood having fluted frieze, convex-glazed bezel within brass line inlay and canted corners over conforming trunk with glazed long door on panelled base and bracket feet, 202cm highCondition report: Sold with two brass weights, pendulum, key and winder.Dial has been refreshed - repainted and reblacked some years ago. Movement appears sound - possible later addition to stalk of hammer but otherwise cleaned and maintained. Case exhibits veneer cracks and a very minor loss but is of good colour and patina.
George III oak and crossbanded dresser base, the moulded top over an arrangement of four drawers with applied with bat wing brass back plates and swing handles, flanked by cupboards with twin-fielded doors beneath single drawers, with fielded sides, raised on ogee bracket feet, 186cm x 46cm x 95cm highCondition report: Top with numerous scald marks, stains, ring marks, etc.. which appear to be old. Two small drill holes and a few filled holes. 80cm approx replacement section running diagonally along back from left side.Cockbeading replaced in parts and missing in a few places. Brass door knobs appear to be replacements. Front, base and sides with numerous marks, scratches, scuffs, stains, etc. commensurate with age and use. Some separating of joints on side panels. Keys present.

Minor wrinkling to front panel veneer. Rear door veneer is loose and depleted, one hinge detached. Requires restoration and service.
Chippendale Revival mirror-backed mahogany two-tier wall bracket, of canted bow front form with pierced fretwork galleries and uprights flanked by blind fretwork pilasters over decorative pieced apron, 72cm x 17cm x 72cmCondition report: Approx 10mm loss to top gallery rail on left-hand side, together with moulding beneath.. Small areas of veneer loss mostly to some dentils and right corner of middle gallery. Several chips to ends, edges and corners of fretwork, noticeable to dentils on top left and bottom right corners. Mirror back very clean, possibly replaced.

Late George III mahogany chest of drawers with brushing slide, the moulded rectangular top over four graduated cockbeaded drawers with original brass oval backplate handles. on swept bracket feet, 88cm x 50cm x 88cm highCondition report: Top with old dark split to rear right corner, general dark scratches and marks,. and a little shrinkage. Brushing slide is oak framed and has no baize covering. Left side has a vertical crack and slight rippling but overall a good piece.
17th Century oak three-panel coffer or bedding chest, the hinged cover over frieze, three panels and end stiles all profusely carved with foliate decoration, raised on bracket feet, 139cm x 53cm x 69cmCondition report: Overall very sound. Widening of joints to plank top, together with crack and splits, area of sun bleaching and old worm holes. Elements of feet appear to be replacements but of some age. Old losses on side corner edges of front uprights. Some bleaching to left side panel together with small patch of worming.

Mahogany, Oak, brass, glass, and blued steel, Art deco era, two train spring driven,eight day time and hour/half hour striking mantel clock (movement #541), made by Smith’s Astral of Coventry, in the central highlands of England, circa 1935. Case: Mahogany mantel clock measuring 20 cm x 27 cm x 12 cm and having a shallow tambour or napoleon Hat type undulating pediment above the concentrically shaped facade of the case centering the zinc glazed bezel and the façade flanked by ebonized stop fluted pillars, one to either side. The base is built in two parts, the upper has horizontal dentil moulding above the concave moulded bracket feet with undulating apron between the front feet. The shape of the concave and dentil moulding continues on both sides of the base. The back of the case is stained and flat with a bulbous round and brass cross-hatched round door for access to the movement compartment. The door has a long hinge on the right and simple metal pull. . . . . Dial: Round silvered metal round dial with enameled Roman hours, closed bar minute track, steel Continental style hands. The dial is unsigned. . . . . Movement: A round solid brass movement with tubular posts connecting the plates and screwed together with metal washers at the rear plate to hold the gearing stable. The back plate is marked #541 and most importantly carries the logo of Astral clocks of Coventry /England. The logo is in the form of a clock key with the heart shaped handle above enclosing the word, Coventry and below the key the word Astral. Of significance is the use of a lever or anchor escapement in conjunction with the marine-type balance-wheel with single lever for adjusting the speed of the movement. The going barrel drives the clock for eight days and causes hour and half hourly striking on a coiled metal Cathedral gong. . . . . . Condition: Case – Tiny chips and splatters of white paint and wear to the case finish. Wear to the edges of the case. Case is fair to good condition. Dial: In good to very good condition with minimal signs of oxidation and slight darkened patina from age. Movement appears to be genuine, original and in good condition. c. Circa 1935.
