A pair of antique Korean brass mounted elm chests 19th century, of upright rectangular form, with two short drawers over a pair of small cupboard doors with decorative pierced brass hinges and lock plate with lock, enclosing a pale blue paper lined interior, carrying handles to the sides, raised on short bracket feet united by a shaped apron, 18 x 13in. (45.75 x 33cm.), 17¾in. (45cm.) high. (2)
A unique piece of Guernsey pub history - `The Hangman`s Inn` pub sign this painted steel and wrought iron sign, depicting the classic hooded hangman next to his gallows, hung outside the Guernsey Brewery pub `The Hangman`s Inn` for many years until the pub`s closure in 2005 and was a landmark at the Bailiff`s Cross crossroads, St. Andrews. The sign is complete with its wrought iron wall mounting bracket. The sign measures 50 x 25in. (127 x 63cm.) excluding the bracket. (2) * This is the first time that this iconic sign has been available on the open market, having been acquired from BBC Radio Guernsey by the current owners through a Children in Need charity auction in 2007.
A George II walnut eight day longcase clock 18th century, by William Wright of London, the brass arched dial with matted centre, signed to the Roman chapter ring, subsidiary seconds dial at noon, date aperture at six, gilt cherub mask spandrels, penny moonphase to arch with Roman silvered dial within gilt dolphin spandrels, all within engraved borders, the bell strike movement with five turned pillars, the case with flared moulded pediment on turned pilasters to the hood, the trunk with cross banded and fielded panelled door, the base with later bracket plinth, 90½in. (230cm.) high, alterations.
A good early 19th century eight day inlaid mahogany longcase clock the twin train, four turned pillar, bell strike movement signed `FRANCIS` to the front plate, the arched brass dial with foliate engraved centre with engraved subsidiary seconds dial at noon and arched date aperture at six, signed `Webb & Son, Frome`, silvered Roman chapter ring with Arabic outer minutes, pierced black steel hands, gilt brass mask spandrels, painted moonphase to arch, in a good inlaid mahogany case, the hood with three eagle and ball brass finials over a cross banded and satinwood inlaid arched frieze on fluted pillars headed by gilt brass capitals, the trunk with canted corners, tulipwood banding and ebony stringing, the door centred with an inlaid oval, the base with conforming inlaid roundel, raised on slender bracket feet, 97in. (247cm.) high.
A George II burr walnut bureau bookcase of small proportions, the glazed bookcase top with cavetto moulded cornice over a single nine pane glazed door with cross and feather banding, enclosing two adjustable shelves, over a conforming banded and moulded fall front enclosing a fitted interior with central break arch banded cupboard flanked by two columns concealing secret drawers and three pigeonholes to either side over two drawers, worn baize writing surface, the base with four long graduated feather banded drawers with later pierced brasses, on shaped bracket feet, 75½in. (192cm.) high, 31½in. (80cm.) wide, 21¾in. (55cm.) deep, restorations.
A George III mahogany chest on chest c.1780, the flared and canted cornice with dentil moulding, over a cross banded frieze and two short over three long graduated drawers within reeded canted corners, on a three drawer base, all with replaced turned handles, raised on tall shaped bracket feet, 73½in. (186.5cm.) high, 41½in. (105.5cm.) wide, 22½in. (57cm.) deep.
