A pair of Victorian mahogany polescreens, each with a woolwork panel decorated with figures, dogs and game, on a cabriole triform base with scroll carved feet, height 159cm. Condition report: First: Boy in kilt - top of crest broken and glued, small crack on edge of frame, glass cracked, silk reverse worn.Second: Boy with two dogs - top of crest broken and glued. One retaining bracket for screen loose, silk reverse worn.
A large late-Regency/early-Victorian mahogany eight-day longcase clock; the broken swan-neck pediment above a large painted dial with the crest over a gilded chapter ring with Roman numerals and two further subsidiary seconds hands, (one being the seconds hand, the other days of the month), the painted dial indistinctly signed and also signed 'Burnley', spandrels painted as cross keys, beehive etc., and flanked by turned mouldings, further over a shaped trunk door flanked by split turned mouldings, shaped apron and on slightly shaped bracket feet (approx. 224cm high) The painted dial is 35.5cm wide x 50.5cm wide (including the broken arch at the tallest point)
A mid-18th century mahogany (possibly Cuban?) writing bureau of good colour and small proportions, the cleated fall opening to reveal pigeonholes above a bank of seven smaller drawers and further over two half-width and two full-width graduated drawers, raised on bracket feet (84cm wide x 99cm high) This appears to be in fairly good original overall order. It has come from a private vendor, there are the usual water marks, ink marks, some scratches and scuffs etc., commensurate with age. The fall is damaged to the left and right hand sides mostly to the top on the left and going down further to about 8/9cm on the right hand side where the lot number is on the cleating. The hinges appear to be in good order, there is a fillet which if not original has been on there a very long time at the very front of the interior where the hinges go into. Otherwise there does not appear to be any real breakages or signs of restoration etc. The interior is quite plain with three drawer sized spaces to the top above an arrangement of one larger and six further smaller drawers. The piece is oak lined with drawer bottoms running from front to back and the tops of the drawer linings are slightly rounded as expected for early case furniture. The handles have obviously been changed at some stage. The item is very heavy and a nice even colour overall except for the dark areas where the handles have been changed and the bracket feet look a little darker also. The two lopers appear to function as intended.
A GEORGE III MAHOGANY BRACKET OR TABLE CLOCK the convex white Roman dial inscribed Frans. Robotham, Hampstead, the twin train movement with pull repeat, bell strike and signed back plate, the break arch single pad top case with carrying handle, fish scale frets to the sides and front door lower quadrants raised on brass ogee bracket feet, 40cm high handle down
AN EBONISED BRACKET CLOCK the break arch silvered Roman dial with Arabic five minutes, the arch inscribed Thos. Morgan, Edinburgh with strike/silent, regulation dials and date aperture at 6 o'clock, the whole with foliate scroll engraving, the six pillar movement with pull repeat, bell strike with floral urn, bird and scroll engraved back plate, the inverted bell top case with three pineapple finials, twin side handles over glazed windows, the door with gilt metal mounts upon brass ogee bracket feet, 53cm high
