A GEORGE III SILVER SALVER BY Elizabeth Jones, London 1784, of circular outline, beaded rim, on three bracket supports, 17.8 cm diameter, 252g (8.1 troy ozs) gross Note: This salver is interesting on two counts, firstly Elizabeth Jones, who was probably the widow of Robert Jones, seems to have made nothing but salvers and trays, and her mark is found on little else. The date letter here is prior to the introduction of the Duty mark on December 1st 1784, so this piece was marked between May, when the date letter changed and the 31st of November 1784, a period of only six months.
