Levi of Bedford, an early 19th century oak and mahogany longcase clock, the painted face with arched dial, secondary dial and date aperture supporting a twin train striking movement under a hood with swan's neck pediment, the trunk with ogee shaped door and plain base on bracket feet CONDITION REPORT: Face with wear, case with splits, no guarantee as to working order
A 19th Century mahogany cased long case clock, the arched hood with brass finials flanked by stop fluted pilasters over an arched trunk door with three quarter stop fluted and gilt metal mounted pilasters to a panelled base on bracket feet, the circular silvered dial with subsidiary seconds and date dials, inscribed "E Bird, Bristol", to an eight day striking movement on a bell. 203 cm high CONDITION REPORTS Circular face with various wear, scuffs, tarnish and discolouration plus hand to small dial to top missing, some knocks and chips and touch-up paint, case overall with some wear and scuffs, section of moulding to edge of door broken off although there is a splinter/section sellotaped to interior of case, veneers with age cracks and some lifting and splits throughout, gilding with wear, metal top of one ball finial is broken off and missing, some splits to back board including board to rear of movement, overall colour appears reasonably good. Weights are not brass covered.
An early 19th Century oak cased long case clock, the arched hood with swan neck pediment centred by a brass finial with glazed door flanked by gilt metal mounted fluted pilasters over a mahogany cross-banded trunk door to a fielded panel base on bracket feet, the arched dial with painted oval of a young woman in a landscape holding a bunch of flowers within gilt borders, the chapter ring with Roman and Arabic numerals centred by a subsidiary seconds dial and date aperture inscribed "Hill, Stafford", to an eight day striking movement, 216 cm high CONDITION REPORTS Case with scuffs, scratches and stains, various chips and losses, quite a few cracks and splits to the wood, and some separating at joins, hood with replacement wooden section across the top (please see photos),various cracks and losses and glued repairs, various chips and losses, denting to the ball finial (please see photos)., dial with wear and crazing/craqueleur to finish, various areas of over-painting where decoration has flaked away, some slight warping to the face.
A George III mahogany wine table, the circular dished top on a turned and ringed pedestal with inverted bell base to cabriole tripod supports and pad feet, 39.5 cm diameter CONDITION REPORTS Tripod base with old metal bracket repair to underside, and also metal bracket repairs to undersides of two of the legs/feet, numerous splits and breaks to the pedestal and to the legs and feet, pedestal appears to have been split at the top and has a screw repairing it, a section to the top of the pedestal beneath the table top appears to be of a different colour and also has woodworm holes, this attachment/section may be associated, the underside of the table top does have very similar colouring to the pedestal and base, although we cannot be certain that it is original to the base, the top of the table top is warped and has some age splits, stains - including water stains, ink, etc. - scuffs and deterioration to the finish, the top has patination conducive with age and use and is currently of a much lighter colour than the pedestal and base. Height approx 55cm.
A late George III mahogany occasional table, the rectangular single piece top on an unusual turned and ringed column to inverted bell base, cabriole tripod supports and pad feet, 45.5 cm x 44.5 cm CONDITION REPORTS Wear, scuffs, stains. Old metal bracket repair to tripod base. Various splits, and chips, and reglued breaks to legs, pedestal top etc. Fitments to underside of tabletop appear to be later. It is not known whether top is original or may be associated.
A Victorian walnut open bookcase of slim proportions, the quartered top with three quarter pierced brass gallery over a shaped frieze and adjustable shelving flanked by cast brass floral corbels to a bracket foot base, 69 cm wide CONDITION REPORTS Wear, stains and scratches. Chips and losses to veneers. Lifting and cracking to veneers. Cracks / some separating to mouldings and to back. Carcass to top separating which has caused a ridge in the veneer. some replacement sections of veneer.
An early 18th Century walnut chest, the quartered top with central wide banded medallion and crescent banded corners within a cross-banded and moulded edge above two short and three long graduated drawers, raised on bracket feet, 97 cm wide CONDITION REPORTS Overall in need of restoration. Woodworm holes. Warping to carcass throughout. Splits and cracks and losses. Losses to veneers. Various old repairs and replacements. Handles and escutcheons are later replacements. Legs and plinth are modern replacement with some old veneers.
An early 19th Century oak and elm occasional table, the rectangular snap top with dished edge raised on a slender turned and ringed pedestal to cabriole tripod base, 44 cm x 31.5 cm CONDITION REPORTS Tripod base with old metal bracket repairs, feet with various alterations, have been shaved down and two have additional block sections added, old woodworm holes throughout, various chips, splits, cracks throughout pedestal base and turned column, pedestal very wobbly and tilt-top mechanism does not appear to work, table top is quite warped, stained, marked and scratched and has a large chunk missing off one corner plus old chips and sections missing from two other corners, various knocks and dents, cracks, etc.
