Lot 656

A 1920's Art Deco French walnut cabinet by Dominique of Paris, the caddy top with silver plated banding above two parquetry inlaid doors with angular brass handles opened to reveal a pigeon holed interior, raised on stepped bracket feet, 120.5 cm wide x 145 cm high (Provenance: commissioned and installed in Bibury Court, Gloucestershire circa 1926) CONDITION REPORTS A stain to the centre of the top surface, bubbling veneer and small loss of veneer in it as well. There is a possible repair to the top surface as well as ring marks, white paint splattered marks and scratches. There are some larger chips to the back edge - see images. To the left hand door at the top there is a small loss - see images, and there are also some minor scratches to the door, including one longer horizontal scratch, roughly half way down. There is some ink all over, some impressed marks, some light scratches and some very small chips to the edges. When looking at the back there is a small gap where the top surface is coming away from the body, so will need a little attention. some general signs of wear and tear throughout

A George III serpentine fronted mahogany chest of four graduated drawers, the shaped top above four graduated drawers with brass embossed oval handles with a shaped apron, on splayed bracket feet, 110.5 cm wide CONDITION REPORTS Split to top emanating from the left hand side towards the middle running approximately a third of the way along the length of the chest.. Losses of veneers to the front - see images. Particularly deep scratches, impressed mark to the top along with a dark black mark, various scratches, scuffs and small chips etc throughout to the top. First drawer split to the base of it, paper has been stuck on and later removed with evidence of some remaining. Chips and losses to the moulded edges of all drawers. Loss of veneer to the apron all over to the front small chips, scratches, impressed marks, dark marks etc. To the right hand side of the front - considerable damage to the veneer and structure - see images all the way down, similar to the left hand side at the front. Right hand side - various impressed marks, chips, scratches, etc, damage to the veneer to the base and similar to the left hand side. Back board - various splits and evidence of old repair using canvas. Some woodworm holes, general signs of wear and tear through age and use.

A George III mahogany bookcase cabinet, the upper section with moulded and Greek key decorated cornice, over two astragal glazed doors enclosing adjustable shelving over a sloping fall, opening to reveal a fitted interior with central mirrored door, flanked by Deed drawers, pigeon holes and banks of four drawers over two drawers and two cupboard drawers to bracket feet, 111 cm wide x 232 cm high CONDITION REPORTS A small piece of Greek style moulding missing to the back left hand top corner and damage to the other moulding on the back top hand right corner. One pane of glass has been cracked - see images. There is only one shelf. To the top of the base there is moulding missing down the right hand side - see images - and half way down the base some moulding missing. To the back there is also a crack down both sides of the base. Mirrored interior door is silvered, some missing handles to the interior compartments. Left hand drawer is missing some moulding. The two doors do not quite fit properly and there are also two linen press style drawers to the base. the back foot is off but still present. All over various small scratches impressed marks, small chips to the edges and general signs of wear and tear throughout consistent with age and use.
