HEADBOARD "CAPITALS UNITED EXPRESS". BR Western Region with twin crests, offset back bracket and in completely original paintwork. The Capitals United Express began on 9th February 1956 to celebrate Cardiff's new status as the capital of Wales. It ran Paddington-Cardiff-Swansea until 12th June 1965. This is the second style of headboard introduced from late 1959, illustrating the crests of London (left) and Cardiff. These crested headboards are exceedingly rare, especially in completely ex-loco condition.

A North Eastern Railway station lamp case (the four sloping sides style that fitted into a wall or wooden post bracket). It displays its original black on white name panel "WITTON-LE-WEAR". Complete with its circular vessel stamped "NER Co". and displaying the oval brass "NER" badge; "NER" stamped brass burner; glass funnel; and all four glazed panels intact. 24" tall. In ex-station condition. Witton-Le-Wear station, on the Weardale Railway from Bishop Auckland, was opened as "Witton" in 1847; renamed in 1852 and closed in 1953.
A LOCOMOTIVE HEADBOARD, metal painted with the EIIR Royal coat of arms. These headboards were carried by a number of special trains run in conjunction with the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth in 1952. In fine, ex-loco condition, lettered on the back "Return To D.M.P.S. Kings X No.1" and complete with its back bracket.
A 19TH CENTURY FIGURED MAHOGANY LONGCASE CLOCK, having an arched painted dial, 14in., with Roman numerals, two subsidiary dials painted to the centre with Jas Millar of Selkirk, the spandrels painted emblematic of the seasons, the arch with cottagers in an interior, eight-day movement striking on a bell, the hood having a swan neck pediment with three brass ball and eagle finials, turned pilasters, the trunk having convex and moulding, bowed door with cushion cresting and acorn finial flanked by half-round columns, the lower trunk with indented panel and on bracket feet, 86.5in. (220cms) high

(30.5cms), with Roman and Arabic numerals, seconds and calendar subsidiary dials, engraved to the centre with stylized birds and leafage, signed Alex MacFarlane of Perth No. 7 of eight-day movement with repeat strike on a bell, the hood with swan neck pediment above blind fret panels, reeded pilasters, the trunk having a shaped top to the long door, canted corners, on bracket feet, 82in. Massey, Newcastle, the hood with square pediment, turned pilasters, shaped door to waist flanked by quarter fluted columns. plinth base, bracket feet, 188cm high **The maker is the well-regarded Edward Massey of Newcastle-under-Lyme born 1740 and was working from 1763 until 1813. Although bankrupted in 1778, he undertook work for Josiah Wedgwood - a Catholic, he belonged to a prolific Staffordshire clock making dynasty, and three of his sons - Edward II, Francis and John also became clockmakers
