Numerous replacements in areas included additional sections of timber to the cupboard door edges, replacement pine backboards, bracket feet, later metal work - hinges, handles, ring pull handles to the doors. Various chips, losses and shrinkage commensurate with use and age - mostly to the leading edges of the drawers, doors and sides. Shrinkage to the panels of the tops with variation in colour at the back edge and sun fading.
A REGENCY PARCEL-GILT EBONISED CHAISE LONGUEWith turned end supports and splayed bracket feet, 205cm wide; 69cm deep; 82cm highCondition report: 69cm deep. Structurally the joints are loose, particularly to both scroll ends which require restoration. A repaired break to the front seat rail, reinforced from behind with an additional section of timber bracing the weak area. Various losses, chips, abrasions and scuffs commensurate with age and use, notably chips and losses to the feet, front and back.Tarnishing, discolouration and dirt to the decorative scheme overall. Many areas of the gilding and ebonised areas are chipped and worn, notably to the arms and front legs. Various areas with worm holes. The upholstery dirty and worn, again notably to the arms. A SMALL MID-18TH CENTURY FEATHER-BANDED WALNUT CHESTWith four long graduated drawers, adapted, 71cm wide; 64cm high; 30.5cm deepCondition report: Various losses, chips, missing veneers and lifting. Chips and missing drawer edge moulding. The top with old stains. The right side with a nearly square patch veneer replacement and other replacements, including to the sides of the front, probably where hinges were located. Handles later, holes suggest that there were two other handles prior to the current ones. Escutcheon linings later, marks from larger oval mounts visible. The top should probably folded over and now missing the other half. A side loper to the left side of the frieze drawer. Bracket feet later, at some point. Some old worm holes to the sides.
