A well-engineered working model of a one-third scale single-occupant vehicle built to represent a World-War Two M10 Tank Destroyer, built by Mr P Purser of Essex with the assistance of his brother, over a 10-year period, both being professional engineers and being built in their spare time. It is believed that a model of this type and size is unique in the UK. Capable of speeds in excess of 15mph. Attracting considerable attention wherever it has been displayed and demonstrated, the vehicle was last showcased in 2017 at the Tank Museum in Dorset. Constructed in steel, aluminium and glass-fibre; and powered by two 125cc air-cooled engines, this vehicle has completely independent drive to each track, making it highly manoeuvrable and with the ability to turn within its own length. This vehicle can be easily transported in a regular-sized ‘Transit’-type van. A transportation security bracket is also included which could, if desired, be used for towing small trailers. The vehicle is offered with a comprehensive range of spares, including a still-boxed engine, carburettor and engine electrics. An extensive library of build photographs and construction documentation is also available. Video footage of the vehicle when first displayed in 2016, and during firing trials last year, can be found on YouTube by searching ‘Large scale M10 Achilles tank’. Length 7’4” (with the barrel removed). Width 3’6”. Height 2’8”, and weighing 7cwt (350Kg).
