A Regency mahogany chest of drawers, with ebony stringing, four long graduated drawers with brass drop handles with circular backplates and with shaped apron and splayed bracket feet. Width 94.5 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The top is in generally good condition with no significant issues. There are some minor old surface marks and scratches but no real problems. All drawer fronts are in good order with all cockbeading present. The handles are not original but cover the old knob handle holes. There is a small veneer repair to the shaped apron at the front right hand side. There is a small piece of crossbanding let in just above the right hand leg. The sides of the piece are in generally good order. The bracket feet have had some repair. The piece could be used in its current state without the need for any restoration.
A George III mahogany longcase clock by John Smith of Chester, with two-train striking movement and moon phase, the case with swans neck pediment, long trunk door and fluted quarter column corners. Height 240 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: We have the pendulum & weights. The clock appears to be ticking away and does strike when the hands are advanced to the hour. The clock case is in first class condition with no significant issues. The trunk door is only very slightly warped at the bottom left hand corner but in our opinion this is not significant. The remainder of the case is in very good condition and the bracket feet appear original. The backboards are original. The dial and moon phase are in good order and the clock could be used or resold in its current state without the need for any repair or restoration.
A George III mahogany miniature chest of drawers, with hinged top opening to a mirror and fitted with two frieze drawers with ceramic handles and raised on bracket feet. Width 33 cm. CONDITION REPORT: This piece requires some work. The top is flat without any cracks. There is a 6 inch section of boxwood stringing missing to the rear right hand corner. Both hinges are original. However above each hinge there are significant cracks and breaks to the back of the top. There are small losses here. The mirror is perished. There are veneer losses around the left hand hinge and beneath the base of the mirror. The interior of the top is in generally good order. There are some small veneer losses to the edge. The left hand side has a jagged crack through the crossbanding on the top edge. The right hand side is in good order. The top drawer is in good order and the handles probably original. The bottom drawer has polish issues and the right hand knob has a rectangular repair behind. All bracket feet are original and in good order.
A George III oak mule chest, with moulded edge above four panels, with two drawers beneath and raised on bracket feet. Width 140 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: This chest is in generally good condition. The top is in good order and shuts as it should. The front is of good colour with no damage of any note to the panels. The sides of the piece are in good condition. The drawers operate as they should and the handles if not original go through the original handle holes. The handles match the lock escutcheons. The bottom moulding and bracket feet are in good condition. the piece could be used in its current condition without the need for any repairs or restoration. Width 140 cm, depth 53 cm, height 87 cm.
An early 19th century mahogany bowfronted chest of drawers, four long graduated drawers with geometric brass drop handles and cockbeading to each drawer front and raised on splayed bracket feet. Width 44 cm. CONDITION REPORT: This has not had a super structure. The chest requires renovation. There are veneer losses to the top left hand corner and all around the crossbanded frieze. There are numerous stains and marks to the top surface which is flat. The top two drawers have cockbeading missing to the right hand side. Drawer three has cockbeading missing to both the left and right hand side as has drawer four. The handles appear to be original. There are veneer losses to the runners between the drawers and also to the front side supports. There is damage to the front bottom applied moulding. The bracket feet are original and knocked and scuffed at the feet. The sides of the chest both have vertical splits between the planks. The backboards are original.
A small early 18th century mahogany table top spice cupboard, with single door to four drawers and raised on bracket feet. Width 21 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: Generally in very good original condition. There are numerous old scratches, water & ink marks but no cracks or significant damage to the body at all. The door hinges operate as they should. The lock would appear to be original. We have no key. The rear left hand bracket foot is a later replacement. There is some minor evidence of old woodworm which appears to be long gone.
A George III mahogany North Country chest of drawers, with crossbanded and boxwood and ebony strung top above one long, two short and three long graduated drawers with brass drop handles with pierced oval backplates and cockbeading to each drawer front, flanked by fluted quarter column corners and raised on ogee bracket feet. Width 110 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: Height 94 cm, depth 55 cm, width 110 cm. The drawer linings are oak. The piece is in extremely good condition and does not require any restoration. The top is flat and in good condition. The handles and lock escutcheons are not original. The handles are replacements and there are marks around all lock escutcheons indicating larger back plates. The piece has clearly been well restored in recent years and requires no further repair or restoration. It could be used or resold in its current state.
A George III style mahogany tallboy, circa 1930, with moulded cornice, blind fretwork frieze, two short and three long drawers to the upper section and with slide and three further drawers to the lower section and all raised on bracket feet. Width across cornice 56 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The cornice has two small scuffs to the top edge on the left hand side. The blind fretwork carving to the frieze is in good condition. It is also in good condition on the canted angles. All drawer fronts are in generally good order with no significant losses. There are minor scuffs and scratches but no real issues. There is a small veneer loss just to the right of the top corner of the right hand top drawer. The sides of both the top and base are in good condition. The bracket feet are in good order and original. The drawer linings are oak. Depth at cornice 40.3 cm. Width across cornice 55.4 cm, depth at waist 40 cm, width at waist 55 cm, depth of base moulding 42.7 cm, width across front feet 59.4 cm. All handles and lock escutcheons match and are present.
A pair of burr walnut and gilt painted bedside cabinets, in the Biedermeier style, with glass tops, slide and door enclosing a drawer and shelves and raised on bracket feet. Width 46 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: These are probably 1930's. They have probably been through a restorers workshop in fairly recent times. There are veneer repairs around the bottoms of the feet on both cabinets. These are at the bottom front edges in particular. The repairs are very good as is the colour. Other than this there are no other significant repairs. Both tops and pediments are in good condition. Both slides have minor rippling to the veneers and minor water damage. One slide has two small sections of veneer that have been filled. Both doors are in very good condition. They are not warped. The carcass appears to be pine. The veneers are fairly thick. They are structurally sound. The backboards may possibly be ply but we cannot see any of the sides to ascertain this. In our opinion the cabinets could be enjoyed or resold in their current state without the need for any work.
A George III mahogany bowfronted chest of drawers, with boxwood strung and crossbanded edges and drawer fronts, with two short and three long drawers with brass drop handles, with shaped apron beneath and raised on splayed bracket feet. Width 99 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: This chest of drawers is in generally very good order. There has been a veneer repair to the rear left hand corner and a very tiny loss in the same area. There is a further veneer repair at the rear of the top. This runs for approximately 14 ins and is about 1 inch deep. As stated it is right at the back and not particularly visible. The front frieze is in good order. The drawer fronts are in generally good condition with only minor marks and small losses to the boxwood stringing. The handles are probably original. The shaped apron has some small nibbles and stress fractures but no real issues. The bracket feet are original and have some scuffs but are in generally good order. The back panels are original and have no issues.
A Georgian mahogany chest of drawers, with moulded edge above two short and three long graduated drawers with brass swans neck drop handles and raised on bracket feet. Width 100 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The top is in generally good condition with only minor marks. There is an old fracture and small veneer repair to the rear top left hand corner. There are small sections of the edge moulding that have been repaired. The drawer fronts are in generally good condition. The handles appear to be original. Most of the cockbeading is present. Drawer three has a small nibble to the beading at the top left hand corner. There is small veneer loss just above the right hand top drawer corner. The sides of the piece are in generally good condition with only minor marks that one would expect. The bracket feet are original and in good order. The piece is structurally sound.
An early 19th century mahogany miniature bowfronted chest of drawers, four drawers with brass handles, with shaped apron and bracket feet. Width 45 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: Drawer 3 has a triangular veneer repair to the top left hand corner. All other drawers have no repairs. The handles if not original go through the original handle holes. All drawer linings are oak and in good condition. The top and sides of the chest are in good order as is the shaped apron. The back panel is in good condition.
