A Victorian washstand with white marble three quarter galleried top upon a base of two short drawers above two cupboard doors raised on bracket feet, the whole in a maple effect painted and cross banded painted finish CONDITION REPORTS Various breaks in the marble to the galleried tops in various places. Various scratches to the top throughout and chips to the edges. Wear to the paintwork throughout although fair condition, various scratches, scuffs, marks, impressed marks etc to the body especially to the legs. Locks probably replacement, handles also replacements. all over general signs of wear and tear through age and use. 106 cm wide x 53 cm deep and height to the marble top excluding gallery 75 cm tall. AN EARLY GEORGE III MAHOGANY STANDING CORNER CUPBOARD with a carved and dentilled cornice over a pair of panelled doors (now detached) flanked by broad stop-fluted canted corners and opening to reveal shaped shelves and a finely painted interior with a mask, a scallop shell and leafy scrollwork on a sea green ground, with three drawers below, apparently retaining the original cast brass handles and escutcheons, on ogee bracket feet, 42" wide x 85.5" high. See illustration Provenance: According to old labels on the reverse, and various chalk markings, from the Collection of Colonel Curtis in 1948. "From Randell", probably a house in West Sussex.
