A fine quality Swedish game relating to the Amundsen Ellsworth Nobiles North Polar Expedition of 1926, comprising 5 silver and 5 gilt “pieces” (originally 6 of each, the other 2 missing), 14 matt silver discs bearing depictions of characters and representing various weather conditions (fog, hail, wind, storm etc), a corresponding number of pin on ribbons with star shaped silver suspenders to which the discs can be attached to be worn as medals, so that each player represents a weather condition or similar, a gilt box containing a miniature Swedish flag, the box lid bearing a depiction of “Rex Poli” (King of the Pole), which is also shown on one of the discs, every piece bearing Swedish silver marks, and contained in their blue velvet lined cloth fitted leather covered case, the yellow silk lid lining gilt embossed with a crown and “C G Hallberg, Hof Juvelerare”, the lid with silver disc engraved “Spelet om Nordpolen” and inscription relating to the Expedition, the whole contained in its padded silk lined carton with gold embossed Hallberg mark on the lid. A collection of Chinese mother of pearl game counters, each finely engraved, various shapes but mostly elliptical, many with monograms, approx 175 Condition Report / Extra Information 169 in total. Five large round carved counters with fret edge. Eleven small round carved counters with fret edge. Seventy-nine large elliptical counters Thirty-seven round initial counters. Twenty oval initial counters. Other counters include two larger engraved counters, twelve rectangular counters and other assorted shapes (17 in total).
B FENNING (19th Century) "Gin and bitters", study of a Fox in a gin trap, pencil watercolour, titled, signed and dated 1849, 12 cm x 15 cm, together with another by the same hand of "Spaniel putting up a cock Pheasant", signed and dated 1845, 12 cm x 14.5 cm, together with ADAM EAST "Pointers with Hare game by a tree stump", pencil watercolour, signed bottom left, 11 cm x 13.5 cm and another by the same hand of "Dog with cock Pheasant", pencil watercolour, signed bottom left, 10 cm x 13.5 cm (4) CONDITION REPORTS These are glued down on to the album pages, all with some general wear and dirt, some discolouration blobs to each of the corners where the glue is showing through, small amount of foxing and some slight water staining to right-hand side of the Adam East "Dog with pheasant in mouth" and to the right edge of the B. Fenning dated 1845 (please see photos". Actual image sizes are approx. : Adam East "Two dogs with hare" approx. 9 cm x 7 cm, B. Fenning "Gin and bitters" approx. 7.5 x 6.5 cm, Adam East "Dog with pheasant" approx. 8.9 x 6.5 cm, and B. Fenning "Dog chasing pheasant" dated 1845 approx. 9.5 x 7.5 cm.
