ENGLAND SCHOOLS CAP 1914 Red E.S.F.A Cap, England v Wales 1914 awarded to Edmund (Sonny) Goldsmith of West Ham Schools who represented England Schools three times in 1914, away to Wales 7/3/1914 at Swansea, away to Scotland 16/5/1914 at Hampden and home to Wales 14/4/1914 at Wolverhampton. Goldsmith was captain of England Boys and could be assumed to have a professional career ahead of him as by all reports he was a star player for both England and West Ham Schools. Unfortunately the First World War intervened and in 1918 Goldsmith was pronounced missing in action presumed dead, just a couple of months before the War ended. He was enlisted in the London Regiment having joined up in Stratford. The Cap is red with tassel and braiding and has "E.S.F.A 1914 E v W" embroidered upon it. This is probably for the game at Wolverhampton 14/4/1914. Good

Lot 1122

CARDIFF CITY v MOSCOW DYNAMO Ticket, line-up pages from programme, press cuttings and autographs relating to match played at Ninian Park 17 Nov 1945. Moscow Dynamo's tour to the UK in 1945 was shrouded in mystery and controversy, they played matches v Chelsea, Arsenal, Glasgow Rangers and Cardiff, but a 5th game was secretly planned v Aston Villa with 75,000 tickets printed. However before the match could be played the Russian team were recalled to Moscow without warning. The ticket is for the Directors Enclosure and is stamped "complimentary" (slightly creased and marked). The line-up pages are split down middle and have some editorial that has been neatly laid down. Press cuttings have been laid down onto lined paper with 13 pencil signatures of Moscow Dynamo and their interpreter. Unlikely to be many items that have been autographed by this Dynamo team as they were virtually kept in secret. These items were from the personal scrapbook of W.E.Russell who was the Welsh Official assigned to look after the team in Cardiff. Generally Good

Lot 822

CHARLTON 7-6 HUDDERSFIELD Programme, ticket and match report for Charlton v Huddersfield, 18/12/57 and probably the most dramatic comeback of all time. With 26 minutes to go Charlton were 5-1 down at home , down to ten men as Ufton had gone to hospital with a dislocated shoulder and many of the already low crowd of 12,535 had left the ground wishing that they too had gone Christmas shopping. Five goals from Johnny Summers , allegedly all with his weaker right foot, and two from Ryan left the final score at 7-6 to Charlton. Huddersfield actually equalised in the 86th minute to make it 6-6 but Ryan got the winner with a minute to go. This Lot includes the programme , in good condition with no writing, a very scarce Grand Stand ticket for the game ( some creasing). Separate newspaper report. Generally good
