A provincial quality DB 14 bore percussion sporting gun, 44" overall, twist barrels 28", the side locks engraved with stylised game birds etc and "Williams" in gothic script, walnut halfstock with chequered wrist, steel mounts, old steel tipped ramrod. GWO & generally GC (well worn overall, one hammer replaced)
A good quality DB 12 bore PF underlever sporting gun, 461/2" overall, twist barrels 30", engraved on top rib "Gasquoine & Dyson, Market Place, Manchester, No 1586", finely engraved back action locks decorated with game dog and bird amid foliage and maker's name in scrolls, the frame and trigger guard similarly engraved, walnut stock with chequered fore end and wrist. GWO & generally GC (dark patina to barrels with some pitting and small dent, fore end cap and one hammer spur missing)
A DB 12 bore percussion sporting gun, by John Manton & Son, Dover Street, London, number 11471 (1844-45), 451/2" overall, twist barrels 30", the broad top rib engraved with maker's name and address, the locks engraved with scrolls, game dogs and "John Manton & Son Patent", walnut halfstock with chequered wrist, silver plated engraved steel mounts. GWO & C (barrels well rebrowned, mounts replated over some wear and light pitting, one hammer expertly repaired, with a set of silver plated ramrod mounts but no ramrod) (Please see lot 782 for image)
