19th Century Indian western state of Maharashtra game of Gyanbazi (Snakes and Ladders) circa 1800, the hand painted board with later English translations to each of the squares with original Sanskrit laid on cloth, the game is to allow players to embark on a religious quest with the first squares representing ‘the hells’ and the top of the board representing ‘supreme Brahman’ status – pure being. 87cm x 92cm. A very similar example is held on display in the Royal Asiatic Society of Great Britain and Ireland

A good signed 6 x 8 photograph, the image showing a young Karpov, seated before the chess game in a head and shoulders pose. Signed in bold blue ink to a clear area at the base of the image.
