BRENTFORD / ABERDARE Brentford home programme v Aberdare , 4/12/1926, last Football League season for Aberdare who surprisingly won this game 4-1 for their only away win of the season. It was also one of only two Bees home League defeats. At the end of the season Aberdare finished bottom and were not re-elected, Torquay taking their place. The programme has a fold and the rusty staple created a small staple area hole. Fair-generally good
BRENTFORD / MERTHYR Brentford home programme v Merthyr Town, 14/9/1929, last Football League season for Merthyr who finished bottom and were replaced by Thames the following season. Brentford won this game 6-0 and achieved the remarkable feat of winning all 21 Home League games, the only Club to achieve this feat. The Corinthians won 2-0 in front of 4000 spectators with both goals scored by N Cornelius, this was the Corinthians seventeenth game of a gruelling twenty four match tour in 53 days from 24th July to 14th September 1907. THAMES - LAST MATCH Brentford home programme v Thames Association, 7/5/1932 and a crowd of 6,364 saw the last-ever Football League game to be played by Thames. Brentford won 1-0 and Thames finished in bottom place five points behind Gillingham. Virtually bankrupt Thames initially decided to apply for re-election but then changed their minds after an appeal for funds fell on deaf ears. The players were released and the Club became defunct, their existence ending after four years of life, two years being spent in the Southern League and two in the Football League. Their ground was the rather large West Ham Stadium which was primarily a Speedway and Greyhound Stadium. It was claimed that the ground could hold 120,000 although 64,000 for a Speedway International v Australia seems to have been the maximum attendance. Thames Record attendance was 8,275 v Exeter for their first League match, the lowest being a dismal 469 v Luton, 6/12/1930 which was a record low for a scheduled Saturday League game. Playing in red and blue quartered shirts and white shorts, Thames finished 20th and 22nd in their two seasons. This programme is a standard Brentford home programme, it has a fold and the staple has been removed, however it has no writing and is in generally good condition. As described.
BRENTFORD / WEST HAM Brentford home programme v West Ham, 8/9/1934, a superb season for the Bees who won the Second Division Championship by 5 points winning 19 out of 21 home League games, drawing against Nottingham Forest and Plymouth. BOLTON Home programme v Brentford,1/5/1935, a crowd of 46,554 saw Brentford lose 2-0 to the team that finished runners-up to them in the Second Division. At the time of playing the game, Bolton were third a point behind West Ham who had played one game more. Bolton only drew their last match and whilst the Hammers won, they were deprived of First Division promotion on goal average as they both finished five points behind Brentford. Slight fold, very minor ageing. Generally good
SUNDERLAND-CHAMPIONS Sunderland home programme v Brentford dated 21/3/1936 and one of only two home defeats for Sunderland who won the First Division Championship by eight points. Surprisingly only 26,348 went to Roker Park for the game.At the time of this game, Brentford were in a lowly position only 3 points off bottom place whilst Sunderland were 7 points clear. Brentford won this game and obtained 17 points from the 20 available to finish in fifth position. The programme is in generally good condition with some staple rusting and pencil half-time scores. Generally good

SOUTHAMPTON / BRADFORD PA Southampton six page small gatefold programme in very good condition v Bradford Park Avenue, 5/10/1907, Southern League. Rather unusual for Park Avenue to be in the Southern League. BPA having been formed in 1907 , failed to be elected to the Football League and consequently applied to the Southern League. Although Park Avenue only finished 13th they were elected to the Football League Second Division for the following season, 1908-09. Only the sixth game played by Park Avenue who lost 2-1. Saints were founder members of the Third Division , finishing runner-up in 1920/21 and Champions of the South Division 1921-22. Good
