CHARLTON-NEWPORT COUNTY 1923 Charlton home programme v Newport County, 14/4/1923. Large format style programme, eight pages. Charlton won 6-0 in front of 5,000 supporters and lost the return game a week later 4-0 in Newport. Newport finished bottom of the Division 3 South table. Minor fold, pencil scorers. Generally good
MILLWALL-CHARLTON 1938 Millwall home programme v Charlton, 20/8/1938, this is an unusual programme because it was a game played for the Football League Golden Jubilee Players Benevolent Fund and most of these games had the same programme with a few pages in the middle devoted to the two clubs involved. Millwall however produced their normal programme for the game, twelve pages including covers, and normal size. Slight folds . Good
CHELSEA-CHARLTON 1937-1938 Two Chelsea programmes, both v Charlton, 1937-38. The first game on Christmas Day 1937 was abandoned due to fog and the second programme is for the re-arranged date 27/4/1938. MANCHESTER UNITED-ATHLETICO BILBAO 57 Programme and ticket for Manchester United v Atletico Bilbao, 6/2/57 at Maine Road, Manchester. European Cup tie played at City as United did not have floodlights at the time. Ticket (covered enclosure) is pinned to the front of the programme and there are annotations on the front cover describing it as a game to be remembered. Little is known about this Youth Cup game even at Everton FC. It is believed that this is the first time that this programme has been known to exist and it was not in the well known Everton collection previously owned by David France. WORLD CUP 1974 Superb West German Limited Edition collection of First Day Covers relating to the 1974 World Cup held in West Germany. A number of the covers have been signed. Issued by Lindner, this is number 744 and the covers are contained in a purpose made album direct from the publisher. There are 94 covers which represent a cover for each game played, a cover for each Stadium used, a cover for the various training centres for the teams and some overseas covers sent back to Germany for this album. Some of the covers are signed including a West Germany cover signed by 16 including Hottges, Scwarzenbeck, Heynckes, Netzer, Herzog, Grabowski, Holzenbein, Overath, Bonhof etc. There are signatures from Sepp Herberger, Uwe Seeler, Franz Beckenbauer, 4 x Australians, 6 x Brazil including Zagallo, Rivellino and Jairzinho, Jupp Derwall, Helmut Schoen, 10 x Jugoslavs, 5 x Poles including Deyna and Lato, 1 x Scot, 4 x Zaireans and Gerd Muller, Vogts, Hoeness and Breitner. Finally the postage stamps issued by West Germany for the Tournament are illustrated and all the covers have appropriate frankings/postmarks. TOTTENHAM-LEICESTER CITY 1919- FIRST CITY AWAY Tottenham home programme v Leicester City, 1/9/1919, first ever competitive away match for Leicester City after the change of name from Leicester Fosse in July 1919 when the Fosse Club was wound up due to financial difficulties. Leicester, at the same time, was restored to City status after a gap of 700 years , and the club decided on Leicester City as a name for the new enterprise and City retained the Football League status previously held by Fosse. This programme was the second game played by City but the first away from home. Spurs won the match 4-0. First Tottenham home programme after the First World War with a few remarks made about their loss of First Division status. Programme is not ex bound volume but has tears to the edges and spine (numerous small tears). Fair
